We track various types of clients broken down by region and size. This allows us to also use a custom sales process to remind us of upcoming projects that it is time to rebid to get new business or keep existing business.

I have used Sales Cloud for 17 years now and it continues to be best in class with regular product iterations to drive productivity and capability.

Not much but you will need to keep up to date with Trailhead etc to be sure to leverage new features.

Providing overall line of sight into sales cycle.

There is always more than one way to accomplish something using Salesforce which can be overwhelming at times.
