Miro is a great collaboration tool for remote teams!

  • December 20, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
As someone working with a remote team, I can’t recommend Miro highly enough. It has transformed how we collaborate, making distance feel irrelevant.

The ability to work on the same whiteboards and documents in real time is seamless. Whether brainstorming, mapping out workflows, or refining designs, Miro’s tools make everything intuitive and visually engaging. Our team meetings have been elevated—we can easily share ideas, leave feedback, and collaborate on workflows, all in one space.

What I like most is how close it feels to being in the same room as my colleagues. The interactive features, like sticky notes and drawing tools, replicate the energy of an in-person whiteboard session. Miro truly makes remote work feel connected and productive.

If you're part of a remote team looking for an efficient and engaging way to collaborate, Miro is an absolute game-changer.
What do you dislike about the product?
Other than an outage one morning for a couple of hours and occasional slight slowness when presenting in meetings while using your camera, there aren't really any particular things that I can say that I dislike about Miro.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Miro provides templates for key workflows and diagrams that I use frequently. I save set up time and using templates means that those collaborating with me are familiar with the layouts and collaboration can kickoff without time to set up boards or basic workflows or time to discuss how to collaborate on the item.

Meaningful Interaction Between Users

What do you like best about the product?
Almost everyday I teach children online with various degrees of comfort working with technology. Miro makes it easy to interact with them and model lessons for them regardless of their experience with technology. It allows for bespoke interactions with each student. As the lesson ebbs and flows, I can easily refer to new documents that have been uploaded and continue the lesson in a meaningful way.
What do you dislike about the product?
The tool bar is helpful, but is not always organized according to the tasks I do the most. I appreciate how they are always assessing users need.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Miro has helped us solve the challenge of providing an active leaning environment for children online. It is great to be able to serve students in a meaningful way no matter where they live.

Collaborative, User Friendly, and Fun!

What do you like best about the product?
Miro is the best tool for cross-functional collaboration. The easy-to-use layouts promote ideation and help translate complex thoughts into a visual medium, so any stakeholder can see progress at a glance. Miro is also great for creating mockups of websites and products, or storyboards for training and video ideas. We used Miro for real-time retrospective meetings and loved the sticky notes feature, which allowed everyone to share their opinions and promoted transparency. The Jira integration allowed us to link specific issues so everyone could track work within Miro. Miro also helps me brainstorm by giving me a place to lay my ideas out, categorize them, and evaluate their potential. I use Miro nearly every day, since I'm working on multiple projects with collaborators. It is great having a place to showcase our team efforts.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only difficulty we've encountered is different teams within organizations granting certain permissions. There are two teams at Cisco for some reason and different people in the same org are on different teams, which is a minor issue. It is also a little difficult to search for users to share boards with, since some emails are maiden names. To resolve this, I look at their email in Outlook but it would be nice to have a more robust search within Miro.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
My team is all remote. It helps us visualize complex thoughts and promotes collaboration. Even though we may be in different time zones, we can work synchronously or asynchronously and progress is apparent to any stakeholder. It also helps create mockups for sites and video ideas. It's helped our teams reflect and be transparent during retrospectives, which translates into actionable next steps to enhance teamwork and efficiency.

Intuitive and versatile

What do you like best about the product?
Due to a role change this year, I started using Miro. My first impression was that it was very intuitive; with zero knowledge of how to use it, I was able to create my first diagrams and boards. Later, I started to like the fact that it promotes team collaboration. It's a great choice for remote work; we can all be working on the same board at the same time. Lastly, I have taken great advantage of the templates, specifically those related to product development and planning, such as Roadmap and Opportunity Tree. In general, it has made my life easier this year and has become a tool of almost daily use for my team and me.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is nothing specific that I can point out.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Miro is the tool we use in the Product Management team and in my Product team to work on interactive and collaborative boards. When we want to work on sessions like Roadmap, Opportunity Tree Mapping, User Journey, Happy Path, etc. During the day, it is the tool where I do "brainstorming" when I am in the initial phase of ideation.

Simple to use, it's a mile wide in features, and the template library gets you up and running in no time

They're trying to cover a lot of things, so it can get confusing for a new person.
