Easy-to-use virtual whiteboard for workshops
What do you like best about the product?
After testing Mural and Miro (Jamboard was too basic) I chose Miro. The tool menu is very intuitive, with very clear options and highly visual. I love that Miro is very user-friendly so it is a tool that I can introduce to a group of people that have never seen it and get them using it really fast without having to spend time in a long introduction. I also like that it works smooth and fast. A good performance is key for me since a slow reaction or small delays would be extremely annoying during a virtual meeting, so far I have had no problems with performance in virtual workshops. I also find extremely useful some functions like the timer, background music and the option for selecting a number of post-its and allow the participants to vote them. I also like the simplicity of the drawing tools. Maybe Mural can allow for more sophisticated figures and I have seen people using it for developing worflows and complex diagrams, but Miro serves most of my drawing needs to be able to set up the board for a group activity.
What do you dislike about the product?
I have mixed feelings regarding how tables are managed in Miro. Some functionalities are brilliant, but then for some common actions with tables Miro requires a different behaviour/interaction and it is a bit difficult to get used to it or to get someone new to use them easily. Still, this is a functionality for the owner of the board before using it with workshop participants, so it is not much of a problem. I also find a bit disappointing the mindmaps. There are many applications online that are really flexible and easy to use and Miro would benefit from trying to emulate them because mindmaps are also a very useful collaborative tool. So far I have not been able to include them in the activities I do with Miro because they end up being a bit "annoying" for the people trying to use them or they just lack a bit of variety in color options.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
In general, using virtual whiteboards is a very useful tool to make dynamic online workshops. What I need is to be able to have a group of 15 or 30 people being able to add post-its, vote for their favourite options and organise or give priority to ideas visually. For this, Miro has fully met all my expectations. I have ended up also using it for team building activities and ideas sketching in small groups of 2 or 3 people. I even have a board for having a broad picture of projects and activities my team is involved in with the added value of being able to share it with all the team.
Miro has helped our remote teams work together
What do you like best about the product?
Miro is great for working together as a team. I like to run little workshops instead of meetings, and Miro is a great tool to get everyone involved.
I like having infinite space to work on, so I can make sure everything fits.

What do you dislike about the product?
I would need a way of filtering content, eg tables, to only work on a certain category at the time without needing to reorganize content manually.
Miro is so popular in our organization I sometimes get lost in all the Miro boards when trying to find a board.

Planning and brainstorming remotely. Working together simultaneously.
Rocket fuel for your innovation sessions
What do you like best about the product?
Infinite canvas is one of the big things to prevent you from being stressed about the upfront organization of your work.
Frames are the second preferred thing, combined with presentation mode, which allows you to break out of your PowerPoint world and be fully transparent and collaborative.

What do you dislike about the product?
Selection mode. As you layer objects on top of each other, the double-click function to create new elements does not work as you select the existing things.

Any meeting I have is happening now in MIRO. It helps me create meeting minutes that can be added to by the meeting participants, allow to jointly and real-time conduct user research and record the insights, off-sync build stories and refine the presentations.
Miro is essential for digital collaboration
What do you like best about the product?
The unrestricted environment to create in is the best part. From small brainstorming sessions to building out an in-depth and involved workshop for a large group, complete with breakout sessions and slideshows, Miro can handle it all.
The integrations are also incredibly helpful. The ability to import files from google drive and tasks from Asana during our team's brainstorming sessions have allowed us to capture ideas that have been scattered across platforms and engage with them in more creative ways.

What do you dislike about the product?
There is a bit of a learning curve, particularly for folks that may be less tech-savvy. While Miro has many learning resources available, having to go through them before folks feel comfortable enough with the platform to engage with it can delay them from fully engaging.
I also really wish that Miro had the ability to draw shapes with the pen tool then fill them in with a paint bucket tool. There have been more than a few occasions where I'd love to be able to create simple illustrations, and end up having to do so in Illustrator, exporting it, then uploading it to Miro.

Our work in restorative justice relies on human connection and relationships, and we've used Miro to engage and connect in different ways than the video conferencing that we've all become too familiar with. For example, we've hosted virtual restorative justice circles through Miro, along with countless activities for check-ins and icebreakers.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I find that the best way to move past the initial learning curve is to dive in and play with the program. Many features are very intuitive, particularly if you're comfortable using common keyboard shortcuts, but It can take some practice to feel confident.
Also, take advantage of all of the templates available in the Miroverse!

So good for whiteboarding that we use Miro even when we have an actual whiteboard in the room
What do you like best about the product?
Seamless collaboration, no different from if you were really in a room with the other people on the board. Easy to see what your colleagues are seeing. Intuitive to navigate even a large board with hundreds of elements, not much lag, etc.
What do you dislike about the product?
iPad and iPhone experiences leave much to be desired – slow and it's painful to try to direct the software to understand if you're moving an item or trying to move yourself. Also, I think you definitely need an external mouse to use Miro because using a trackpad for it hurts my entire hand (and soul). But honestly – Miro is still the best out there. I tried a competitor (Lucidspark) last week just out of curiosity, and it was so awful to use that it sent me fleeing back to Miro within a day.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Miro is the best for breaking down any complicated problem in life. I've used Miro to figure out everything from a software platform (for work) to a new app for a fitness studio (for a friend) to outlining a novel and deciding how to hunt for a house (personal projects). Half an hour on the board helps everyone get their unspoken assumptions out in the open for more effective problem-solving. Love the large template library – some of my favourites include the User Story Map and 2x2 matrix.
Powerfull and simple to use virtual white board
What do you like best about the product?
Very intuitive to use and with a lot of tools. Also, a good plethora of external integrations makes it even more helpful.
I also like the voting option, and the adition of the possibility of music during the time is also a small but great idea.
The possibility to organize several boards in projects makes it easier to navigate once we have a lot of boards.
The jira integration is great not only to create user story mappings but also to create tickets in jira after a brainstorm session or after a retro.
Another thing that I like a lot is the miroverse where we can find a lot of templates to use and also share easily our template with others.
The reply time from their support and the time to fix issues when I tried it was also very good and exceeded my expectations

What do you dislike about the product?
The pricing model is a bit expensive, although the possibility of public editing and sharing with a password helps a bit.
It also tends to be a bit more hungry and doesn't cope well when you have too many small elements in one boards, making it rather sluggish

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I used it mostly for team collaboration, visual facilitation, asynchronous communication and visual note-taking.
It allows for good team collaboration and everyone is at ease working with it.
It helped quite a lot facilitating remote meetings since it made visible what we where talking about

Use first the free version to try it out. There's also a trial version that allows us to experiment the paid features.
If you plan to use it with huge whitboards with a lot of small objects be sure that your PC has 16 Gb of memory

Miro is the new trace for designers
What do you like best about the product?
Miro lets me sketch with my colleagues, it is better than sketching on trace because we can literally sketch in the same place. The only limiting factor is the size of my pen tablet. I can also leave notes for them when they are not around, with pictures or whatever is useful for giving feedback.
What do you dislike about the product?
Miro can be a little slow, especially when I am sketching and am making a lot of little lines quickly. It can also get slow when the board is full of lots of images.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
My teams are able to sketch while working from home! It keeps all of our sketches in one place. I can see what everyone is working on. It is easier to save sketches for referring to later.
Miro helps me to organize my mind
What do you like best about the product?
I really like that the way of working is similar to illustrator which is what I use to take notes because it allows me to slide / move in an "infinite" workspace and create tables.
I also like the fact I can duplicate worspaces and share them with other members. It allows me to choose who I want to share it with and also I can see when they are looking at it. Also the reactions and emojis make a really comfortable space where to work at.
I like the fact that I can divide workspaces into subfiles, as I use it for the courses I teach and also the ones I am student at.

What do you dislike about the product?
You cannot add bold and italics inside notes and
Integrate the clock with music from apple or spotify (although I don't know if I would concentrate) probably if I add a playlist exactly for that moment of study or work
It should be able to be grouped in subfolders, at least 3 classification categories, I want it for my notes of each course
More tools for drawing

Mostly to organize my ideas for essays and the notes I take during my master courses. I first take handwritten notes on my notebook and then I organize them better in Miro.
I also use it with other teachers to plan the classes for students. It is really helpful as we can then duplicate the board and share it with them.

Recommendations to others considering the product:
I was reluctant to use it at first, but once I did it I couldn't be more satisfied. Is is actually very intuitive. I come from the field of graphic design, and the fact that many tools work pretty much the same way, made it a lot easier. I don't know why would I do without it, as my mind is very disperse.
Next level collaboration tool !
What do you like best about the product?
That you can collaborate in realtime just like in a rooms
What do you dislike about the product?
I sometimes slows don the computor when using teams and Miro together. When sharing the screen with Microsoft teams and running Miro with a large (more than 4-5 people) it quickly eats your memor and everything gets slow. The voting process could be improved a bit. If you have use it to vote on stickers that have been grouped together and you want the group to be the thing you vote on thats not possible. Now you have to vote on only the single individual stickers within that group. Sure you can add upp the nyber of votes to see the totality but a feature to group a number of stickers would be nice. In the beginning it was hard to know the exakt tips and trix I use today to make my life easier. For example knowing that you can select multibple items by holding down the shift key and then draging the mous was something I had to google to find out before knowing. This is now a lifesaver for me and I cant live without it. Having this as some sort of tool tip in the beginning would have been nice.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The retrospectives are perfect to use with Miro and I have realized that in Covid times you can still have collaborative sessions even online
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Look through the templates, there are so many good to choose from!
A great tool for creative collaboration for design agencies
What do you like best about the product?
The flexibility of tools makes it incredibly easy to collaborate between creative teams. Miro makes it easy for newcomers to use a digital whiteboard even if they have never tried a similar application before. You can use it on desktop computers or phones and tablets, and it's best on touch screens.
One of the great advantages of Miro is that it allows you to create a digital work environment that allows you to collaborate with your teammates in real time.
Once on a board, you can see where each team member is (through a cursor with their name), while everyone can modify their content at the same time.
In addition, you can make a video call from the same platform and share a screen.

What do you dislike about the product?
The onboarding process can be a little overwhelming for non-tech people. The only problem is that its free version limits many of these features, making it perfect for singles or very small design teams. If you have more than three people who need to use a whiteboard app, consider paying for Miro.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Miro helps us collaborate between our designers without the need of being on-site in the studio. The main board has a variety of templates you can insert, such as kanban boards, flowcharts, mind maps, etc. The rest of the whiteboard space remains empty and you can insert various templates. This is a fantastic way to use different brainstorming methods on a whiteboard.
Collaboration is a key element of Miro. You and team members can chat and send messages, add comments, leave sticky notes, and create a centralized note for meeting items. You can also link and embed into other team apps such as Slack. The premium version also includes video chat, voting and screen sharing.

Recommendations to others considering the product:
Miro can be adapted to the needs of your organization, if you find a way to integrate it into your work processes.
A great example is the Kanban board that allows you to visualize the flow of tasks, prioritize them and assign them to different members of your team. The cards allow you to add comments and mention other users.
