Miro is more than a whiteboarding platform - it's evolved the way we work

  • April 29, 2021
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Miro's versatility is in a league of its own but seamlessly meets users where they're at - whether a seasoned virtual collaborator or newer to the concept. This aspect has been critical for adoption at H&R Block - while an infinite whiteboard, the platform makes it easy to jump right in and get started from scratch or through a template.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is not much to dislike, but a couple things top of mind that would be great to be able to do in Miro is: 1) Hiding all overlay menus to reduce screen clutter when workshopping. 2) Lots more sticky note colors!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
While COVID forced our teams physically apart, Miro brought us closer together and evolved how we work cross-functionally. From IT and Operations to Product, Strategy, and Design, our growing user base leverages Miro for more than workshops and product strategy - it's become a powerful communication tool for open knowledge sharing. We've seen significant efficiency gains through better collaboration and stronger alignment that have resulted in a better, more inclusive way to work.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Miro is genuinely more than just a fantastic online collaborative design tool; it will evolve how your teams work together, and you'll wonder why you didn't try it sooner. As you consider if Miro is suitable for you, don't just consider features; consider all the possibilities in how it could accelerate innovation, foster better collaboration, and drive more substantial alignment.

The digital whiteboard for everything

  • April 29, 2021
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Miro provides in the digital world what a large wall in a physical workshop room used to do: it's the space for everyone to collaborate, create, organize, structure, visualize. I even use it for my brainstorming and organization, which came to me as a surprise. And even better than a natural wall, it is infinite and provides numerous ways to add elements. Plus, there are some useful features like a timer and voting capabilities built-in.
What do you dislike about the product?
Depending on your use case, it's not cheap. And some companies are not willing to use it due to GDPR and data security concerns - I'm not sure how much this is an issue with Miro, but it can make working with Miro in a client's company impossible.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
* enabling teams to collaborate visually in a remote setting
* as a training tool
* as a home base for events like conferences or meetups, providing all information, links, documentation, and feedback
* personal brainstorming
* preparation of workshops, trainings, offerings and events with a few people

The #1 collaboration tool that you must use

  • April 29, 2021

What do you like best about the product?
I love MIRO's beautiful design, simple UI, infinite canvas, and all of the integrations available.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not free forms yet, not text-styles options yet
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
MIRO solves virtual and face-to-face teamwork giving us an infinite canvas to share our ideas and communicate better thanks to easy-to-use visual support tools.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I think this tool is a MUST.
Visual collaboration is a big step forward to effective communications and teamwork. MIRO is the best visual platform to do that.

A great tool for collaborative development

  • April 29, 2021
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Miro makes it easy for a team to solve problems together. Everyone can draw or type at the same time. It's straightforward to get a lot of input quickly. Miro integrates well with Jira and other tools we use. Miro has lots of good templates for a wide range of development realted activities.
What do you dislike about the product?
The video calling is adequate but not great. Miro can cope with huge documents but they can be tricky to navigate if you don't use sensible naming conventions.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are creating software and used to rely on physical whiteboards. Miro is much better than using a whiteboard because the result is clearer, and it works great with remote participants.

Great tool for collaboration across multiple teams

  • April 29, 2021
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Flexibility. This tool is AMAZING to work async with other teams and enhance collaboration to a level I have not yet experienced before. As a PM, it has lots and lots of use cases and is used during all product lifecycle stages. It supports better communication and alignment. And since it covers my needs well, I tend to keep all my work on it, which facilitates my organization.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes I find it hard to find a given function the feature has - the UI is clean and it's just a matter of spending some time trying to find out what you need.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
- Cross-team collaboration
- Organisation
- Knowledge repository
- Async collaboration
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Need to work async? Need to enhance collaboration? Need to work async? Need to have flexibility? Tired of sharing Gdocs Gslides etc? Then Miro for sure can help you/

Making collaboration and workshop facilitation fun and easy

  • April 29, 2021
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Best part of using Miro is it's ease of use. Creating post its to jot down thoughts is quickly done, and it's a small learning curve for new collaborators in my team who have never used such a tool before. The pre-made templates are also a great start when constructing the type of workshop I want to facilitate, and the possibilities really seem endless. It's cool that Miro has also implemented some tools that help gather people together when the canvas is so big and vast that people get lost, i.e. Dictating the First View when people land on the board for the first time, or even being able to bring everyone to one person in the board. I also like the react features that bring a bit more of delight in the experience of collaborating together. The Share feature also is really flexible with options.
What do you dislike about the product?
Elements move unexpectedly, because users don't know if they're dragging an object, or dragging the canvas to shift their view from another part of the canvas page. Seems like the cursor icon needs to be selected first in order to actually move things, but it's not very clear. Could a default "hand" cursor help with this to differentiate these actions? Font choices could be better, because most of them are just display fonts that can't be used for long texts because they're unreadable. The "Only I Can Unlock" elements feature is actually really cool but during a workshop some people were able to move them anyway, so unclear to me how this works.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Facilitation and ideation sessions that I normally have in-person are seamlessly carried through with Miro now that we are working remotely! Having a visual platform really helps with bringing people together in the same page, literally.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Let people move things around for fun, create post-its, just to get a hang of the physicality of the tool before starting your workshop.

Very intuitive, beautiful and fun to use

  • April 29, 2021
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The several templates and nice design. I just keep creating things.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes it is hard to change control mechanisms, such as zoom in, zoom out or to know if I am using the hand to grab the board and change the view. I am always choosing the wrong control.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using in design thinking workshops, to build figures for papers and also as a teaching tool. Before I didn't have access to a platform where I could easily build boards that also looks very cool - so, I spare time and brain cells.

The app that made working from home feel less as working alone

  • April 29, 2021
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Miro enabled our teams to collaborate truly, get more out of these dreaded Teams sessions and have fun. Going into lockdown for so long, we gradually lowered our expectations of what we could accomplish in brainstorms, design sprints, retrospectives, and other sessions, where genuinely working together as a team is vital. That is, until some colleagues of another department started these Miro sessions.
I have never seen a more 'aggressive demand to have a tool enabled in our relatively closed ICT environment. In no time, we were using the existing templates for all kinds of meetings and created our own. With lockdown continuing to this day, Miro has been a live saver for productivity, engagement and fun. And after lockdown, it will remain an essential part of our collaboration toolkit.
What do you dislike about the product?
The one thing nagging the most is the strict way Miro disables functionality for guests and ordinary users. We often encountered a meeting where the admin of a board was not present, and there was no way for the participants to e.g. start a timer or use other functionality.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Miro is used all over the place. As mentioned, its primary function is to facilitate meetings that have a high collaboration aspect to them. By creating specific templates we also use it for standardized meetings in our scrum workflow, like the retrospective. As a quick thought gathering 'system', we also often use a plain Miro board. The real-world sticky note approach of gathering all the collected info by taking photos of hundreds of sticky notes is also taken care of.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Just start playing with it, use some of the templates and see for yourself if it works. I bet you it does :-)
