Quickbase is easy to learn and use with huge upsides for our company.

What do you like best about the product?
Quickbase is straightforward and easy to use, even for someone like me who is self-taught. I was able to build three apps before I even met with a trainer, and it has been a good tool for organizing and centralizing our processes. I like that it allows us to keep everything in one place instead of needing separate apps for communication, inventory, and other tasks. That is a big deal for us because we are a small but growing company, and we do not have the time or resources to juggle multiple systems. It is also flexible enough that I can tweak things as we grow or as our needs change.
What do you dislike about the product?
Our biggest issue before Quickbase was communication. We run two shifts in our chemical manufacturing facility, and information wasn’t always getting passed down properly—things like equipment issues, inventory levels, or what stage a batch was in. We started with paper forms, but they were not cutting it. With Quickbase, we have been able to create apps that help us track and share this information more effectively. It has made communication between shifts a lot smoother, which is something everyone here appreciates.

Another benefit is having everything centralized. Before, we were using different tools for different tasks, and it was a hassle. Now, we can manage things like inventory and production tracking all in one place. It has also helped us keep up with our growth. When I started here, we had around eight employees; now we are at nearly 50. Quickbase has made it easier to scale without adding unnecessary complexity. That said, I am always looking for ways to improve what we have built. I am self-taught, so I know there are probably better ways to do some things. But even with that, Quickbase has been a solid solution for us.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Quickbase has helped with numerous communication gaps that we were having at our company. With all information in one location and available on any device with internet access we can provide the best products to our customers and the best working environment to our employees.

Quickbase has changed the game

What do you like best about the product?
Quickbase works for me because it’s simple to use and feels intuitive, especially since I’m not an IT guy—I’m an accountant. It’s similar to Excel in how I can visualize and build processes, which makes it easy for me to create what I need without needing a coder. I also like that it’s flexible. I can build something that fits exactly how we run our business, and if we need to tweak it, we can. It’s not a one-size-fits-all solution, which is important for us. Another thing I appreciate is how Quickbase lets us manage everything from the point of sale to the point of swinging a hammer. It handles commissions, task management, and ensures things are done the right way. That kind of control is key for us.
What do you dislike about the product?
The app could do with an update but other than that it's perfect for what we do
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Before Quickbase, we were using Google Sheets, which caused all kinds of issues. It wasn’t secure, and it wasn’t built to handle the complexity of our business. At my previous company, we used a Microsoft Access database, but that required hiring someone with specific expertise to maintain it. Quickbase has been a great middle ground—it’s more secure and capable than Google Sheets but doesn’t require a dedicated coder to manage.

With Quickbase, we’ve been able to streamline our operations. It manages everything between the sale and the start of the job, which has made our processes much smoother. It’s also helped us as we’ve grown. For example, we’re splitting our business into two divisions, and Quickbase makes it easy to separate and manage those workflows. We’ve even built a second app specifically for one division, which we can also use as a template for other companies in our dealer network.

The biggest benefit is that Quickbase gives us control and flexibility. We can adapt it to fit our needs, and it’s helped us run our business more efficiently. It’s also a tool I can recommend to others in our industry because I know it works."

Overall QuickBase Review

What do you like best about the product?
QuickBase is an intensly powerful tool depending on how it's being used. My organization leverages QuickBase in ways that nearly no one leverages the platform. It's Low-Code to No-Code driven solution makes the platform that much better in being able to generate things on demand.

Pipelines is the bread winner. It's generally easy to integrate with both internal and external functions!

Platform uptime is significantly impressive.
What do you dislike about the product?
I do not like the fact that QuickBase deprecates functionality without identical/working alternatives.

Certain Formulaic Items can get a bit tricky and can be tough to implement. There's not enough documentation available related to Formulas where it can get specific to your Application, Enviornment & or Business Needs. Even if you are a QuickBase Expert you will run into some challenges. (This will likely change with the implementation of AI)

The QuickBase Application Table Sizes can sometimes be tough to work within the confines of said table size, due to the maximum table size within QuickBase's Platform, there is a lot of functionality that I am unable to take advantage of as the Data Set Sizes I'd need would quickly exceed the allowed table size. This in turn forces us to build code to generate the equivalent of what we could get out of QuickBase Natively.

Cannot stand that every report you can download from QuickBase has to be in .CSV, would be nice if .XLS or .XLSX is supported, same for PDF Reports. Especially given that Subscription Reports have the ability to email out the same report as a PDF.

If you are not a Jinja Ninja, pipelines can be a bit tough to work with. Native QuickBase fields/sub-fields are widely used within QuickBase however you cannot leverage Pipelines Natively within a "Search Records" step to procure the data you need, instead you'd have to do a Make Request to the QuickBase API's to procure the same data, when you leverage the QuickBase API in many cases you will require Jinja to parse the response payloads which is also tricky.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
QuickBase Solves a lot of issues in terms of being a Front End UI for both Internal and External Users.

Data collection is the biggest one, for example. It would take 30 seconds to create a new field, make it visible to a specific user on a form where as if you needed to do this in something like an Angular or React Front End it requires code changes to both the front end and the back end.

In our organizations use case, it's significant that we have the ability to "Stage" all the changes we need to have done which will interface with backend code based solutions.

What do you like best about the product?
Simplicity at it's peak. Quickbase API documentation is really helping everyone of us everyday.
What do you dislike about the product?
Instead of Field ID's or Table ID's in API call, if we can get Table Name and Field Names with Field ID's and Table ID's will help us recognize each table and field in less time. For this we are maintaning seperate mapping sheet.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using it to store our satellite data and also using it for storing and managing Employees data everyday.

What do you like best about the product?
I use spreadsheets alot. This has helped me with my day to day with work and personal. Its easy and if you need assistance, they are there to help. I've never been too good with spreadsheets but this has made things a little more enjoyable and relaxed.
What do you dislike about the product?
This was my first time using the program. I havent dibbled and dabbled in eveything yet but the only thing i could say challenging is navigation of the program. You can get lost lol but its not too much of a "bad" thing.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The ease of applying and extracting information in a swift.

Quickbase is an effective no code database that is transforming our ability to track our data

  • December 13, 2024

What do you like best about the product?
I have used Quickbase since 2006 and it is a great product. Underneath the hood it is a true relational database but it presents a very user friendly interface to non-technical users. I have created 100s of QB apps over the years and the majority of them I started myself from a spreadsheet or from scratch and then handed it off to a non technical user to continue to build. Unlike other supposedly no or low code systems, it really makes it very easy to create data tracking tools very quickly. It address that gap between excel and a custom development project for use cases which are too complicated for the former and too niche to make the latter cost effective. It also gives the ability to create a completely custom html/javascript interface from scratch if necessary. Finally, it is very cost effective and much cheaper than competitors.
What do you dislike about the product?
The quickbase interface leaves something to be desired. It has too much whitespace which sometimes makes it hard to navigate and is a little clunky. However the fact that you can code a completely custom HTML interface from scratch within the app somewhat makes up for that.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Quickbase is an ideal tool for situations where you need to track and report on data but it is getting too complicated for what you can do with excel and it is too niche a use case for an off the shelf tool or custom development project. We have used it for client tracking, project tracking, help desk ticket tracking, centralizing client data, grants management, data collection, etc. Anything where you are tracking data rather than milestones. While you can use to to do project management etc, there are more dedicated tools for that like monday.com etc.

Game changer.

What do you like best about the product?
Quickbase cmprehensively met a need for us 15 years ago that we couldn't find in an off-the-shelf product - and we tried a number of them!

I am a social worker by training and was clueless about databases - but I was able to create our first Quickbase application with minimal assistance only with the more technical aspects.

We use Quickbase all day long, as do our partners in another country. Data entry, upload, reporting, and collaboration with partners are seamless. It's been tried and true for us!
What do you dislike about the product?
Can't think of anything I dislike about Quickbase!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
In 2009, when we found Quickbase, there weren't good database options available for Tour Operators. With one product we had to use the "Smoking No" and "Smoking Yes" boxes to indicate something else entirely. Another was doing regular back ups but oops not of the folder that our data was stored in. Another told us "just because you can enter it doesn't mean you can pull the information into a report". So having the ability to customize from the ground up a database that is specific to us and our operations was a game changer.

We have always been a remote work environment and needed a data management solution that was accessible to people in different areas. With Quickbase our colleagues, whether across the room or down in Costa Rica have real time access to any new or updated information.
