Quickbase is a versatile platform for handling many business functions

  • June 05, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Quickbase makes it quick and easy to develop many different types of applications, from full-blown project management apps to simple apps to compile data and view reports. You can use no code or a lot of code.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only downsides are really the ones you create as an administrator.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We currently have around 60 Quickbase applications, which has helped us solve many things as a company. From project management workflows for construction and network projects to simple data entry forms to collect data.

What do you like best about the product?
Quickbase allows us to confidently put powerful tools in the hands of our operational owners. We have seen it transform how our teams work - from project management to comprehensive clinical data tracking and beyond.
What do you dislike about the product?
Still need better realm-wide visibility into integrations. Until we have it, we can't fully utilize Pipelines in the way it is intended. We're itching to put Pipelines into the hands of our operational owners, but until I can see everything that touches our apps at a realm level, we have it strictly limited to a very small group.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Many necessary processes cannot be done in the legacy systems where the data lives. Bringing that data into Quickbase data hub apps via various integrations (Pipelines, Sync Tables, API Calls) allows our teams to do the work they need to do with the data while keeping the source of truth in the legacy system.

Quickbase has drastically changed our productivity in office.

  • June 05, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Quickbase has made our lives in the office side of our business so much easier by simplifying the tasks that we were previously done by hand. We have been able to cut back 6-8 hours of payroll processing time, as well as several hours in Excel doing manual calculations for our fuel data and profitability.
What do you dislike about the product?
I do wish that it was simpler to create our own custom looks in Quickbase without having to get too much in to coding. If we were able to change the appearance around a bit more using internal Quickbase options, that would make things much better.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Quickbase helps us do things that we had no platform in which to do them before. Outside of Excel, we were still doing manual calculations for billings as well as time entry on our own. Quickbase has enabled us to get these tasks done much faster, allowing for that time to be spent on other important business tasks.

What do you like best about the product?
Quickbase is very complete and allows for flexibility
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like the fact that they moved from Automations to Pipelines which are a lot more difficult to create, modify etc
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Most of the information is in one place and there are automations that help project management.

Reliable, user-driven platform, that is scalable

  • May 19, 2023
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

The goal of the project I was responsible for was to implement it across our entire construction organization as an ERP platform. It aimed to provide a centralized solution for managing all our projects.

What is most valuable?

The usability of QuickBase largely depends on how you design your workflows within the platform. If you keep them simple and straightforward, it can be a highly usable product.

However, if too many individuals are involved in the app's development and the workflows become overly complex, it can make the platform more challenging to use.

What needs improvement?

It would be beneficial for the QuickBase team to focus on improving the integration of cloud-based storage platforms within their product. In use cases like ours, where QuickBase serves as a centralized source of truth for construction projects, having seamless integration with platforms like Dropbox or OneDrive would greatly enhance the product's capabilities.

By providing better tools and features for integrating with cloud storage platforms, QuickBase can further streamline workflows and improve the overall user experience.

One feature that I would suggest adding is seamless integration with cloud storage platforms.

For how long have I used the solution?

I am not currently using QuickBase, but in my previous role at my former company, I served as the designated champion for the product. I was both a builder and a user, actively involved for approximately a year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I found the stability of the system to be excellent. I didn't encounter any significant issues or problems that stood out to me.

I would rate the stability as a ten out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

QuickBase is a very scalable product.

How are customer service and support?

I worked with a subcontractor from QuickBase on a daily basis throughout the application development process to address any challenges that arose.

How was the initial setup?

The usability of QuickBase can vary depending on an individual's technical acumen.

With proper customization and tailoring, it is possible to create a simple and user-friendly experience.

However, it is important to note that the success of the implementation ultimately relies on the care taken during the setup and configuration process.

If attention is not given to properly implementing the product and ensuring data quality, usability may suffer, making it more challenging to use effectively.

What about the implementation team?

I am aware of instances where the deployment of QuickBase was completed relatively quickly, within a span of three to four months.

However, it's important to note that individual experiences may vary. In your case, where you worked on the deployment for almost a year, it seems that the implementation process was more complex and faced challenges due to additional ideas and the need for rework.

What was our ROI?

In my opinion, I would say no. The reason is that the QuickBase platform was never fully deployed in our organization.

Additionally, there may be challenges in terms of pushing adoption within the organization, as some individuals may resist using it.

This is particularly relevant because the purpose of the program was not only to track projects but also to monitor project metrics.

Some people prefer to keep those metrics confidential rather than share them openly.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The pricing for the tier my company used included ten seats and the subcontractor, amounting to approximately $18,000 USD per year.

As for data volume, there is a different pricing model once you reach a certain threshold in the software, which I believe is approximately $6,000 USD per year.

Please note that pricing details may vary, and it's advisable to verify the current pricing structure with QuickBase directly.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We had the opportunity to collaborate with other companies across the United States that were using QuickBase, and they expressed high satisfaction with the software.

In particular, a joint venture we were involved in with a large electric contractor successfully used QuickBase and achieved positive outcomes.

This positive feedback and success stories from other organizations influenced our decision to choose QuickBase as well.

I believe it would be beneficial to explore at least two other alternatives in the market to ensure that you have thoroughly researched and considered all available options.

Conducting a comprehensive evaluation of multiple solutions will provide you with a broader perspective and enable you to make an informed decision based on your specific needs and requirements. It's always a good practice to explore different options before finalizing your choice.

I believe QuickbBase is a great product, but there are other alternatives available in the market that offer similar features.

These alternatives might be more cost-effective, especially for smaller to mid-sized businesses. With QuickBase, you not only have the initial expense of nearly twenty thousand dollars but also the ongoing costs of development and maintenance.

This requires time, financial resources, and manpower. Exploring other options with a more approachable price point could be beneficial for organizations looking to optimize their expenses.

What other advice do I have?

I would highly recommend working closely with QuickBase and taking advantage of their subcontractors who specialize in building QuickBase apps.

QuickBase does a great job of connecting potential users with these subcontractors.

However, I would also advise tempering expectations and being aware that building and customizing applications in QuickBase takes time.

It is a user-driven platform, so it requires investment and effort to create meaningful solutions.

I would rate QuickBase a ten out of ten.

I believe that if implemented properly, QuickBase can provide immense value to any organization.

It can be used for various purposes such as managing purchase orders, tracking change orders, and monitoring project metrics.

By using QuickBase as a central hub, it becomes a reliable and trustworthy source for project-related information.

This ability to consolidate and organize data makes it an invaluable tool. Moreover, any solution that helps transform information from individual knowledge into a structured database is undoubtedly a worthwhile investment.

Low Code with a Quick-turn Speed to Market

  • May 19, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The ability to create anything with flexibility and automation.
Builders do not need to have experience in coding and can easily create applications that can save time and money with multi-levels of automation available.
What do you dislike about the product?
Pipelines still need some work to make them move user-friendly for application builders who come from the business and not from the technology world. Automations are much easier to piece together and are, sometimes, all that is needed to simplify a workflow for end-users.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Managing Employee movement throughout the Company, into and out of various locations and jobs - Ensures accuracy and compliance for our Administration Teams
Managing inventory at various locations - Giving the Company and Leaders at each site a better view of spending
Managing Timekeeping and Employee Data in various Departments - Getting us out of the business of emails and spreadsheets
