Fast Database, Easy to manage

  • June 19, 2024
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that ScyllaDB is compatible with Cassandra. It fully implements Cassandra Query Language (CQl). This makes migration very easy. It also means that existing skills can be utilised without significant training. (Quick learning curve) The Developer advocate team are really helpful. They understand your questions and reply honestly with appropriate solutions. They will tell you if your architecture or data model is wrong or if ScyllaDB is inappropriate for your use case. There is a lot of courses available for free through ScyllaDB University. Very low latencies
What do you dislike about the product?
ScyllaDB only supports ACID transactions across a single partition and not across, multiple partitions.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am working with several tables containing a large amount of sensitive health data. The tables need to be joined and this process takes too long. By using ScyllaDB I expect faster analysis and reporting times.ScyllaDB also provided encryption for my data and I manage the key(s)

Fast, Scalable and a Small Footprint

  • June 18, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
ScyllaDB, a high-performance NoSQL database, has garnered praise for several key features. First and foremost, its impressive performance and low latency make it an excellent choice for real-time analytics and high-throughput workloads. Users also value its scalability and fault tolerance, inherited from the architecture of Apache Cassandra. Whether handling large-scale data environments or distributed systems, ScyllaDB delivers robust solutions. Additionally, its user-friendly experience and clear documentation contribute to its appeal, although some caution that community support may not be as extensive as other databases. Overall, ScyllaDB remains an intriguing option for those seeking speed, scalability, and ease of use. 🚀
What do you dislike about the product?
ScyllaDB’s impressive performance and scalability are balanced by concerns about its smaller community support, which can make complex queries and transactional consistency challenging. However, its benefits for high-throughput workloads and real-time analytics should be considered. 🚀
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Building a time series real time scalable market data store for our quant engine to utilize for trading and risk analysis.

Unveiling ScyllaDB - Exploring It's capabilities and design

  • June 18, 2024
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate ScyllaDB's ability to process millions of operations per second with predictable single-digit millisecond latency, thanks to its near-metal architecture and shard-per-core design for data-intensive applications it enables is high throughput and low latency for data-intensive applications.
What do you dislike about the product?
Despite the high performance, ScyllaDB can struggle with large queues, which can lead to performance degradation due to increased CPU processing time for larger cells or queues, affecting overall performance.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
ScyllaDB addresses challenges such as efficient handling of large amounts of data, sub-millisecond delays, & supporting various data models, including time-series and key-value stores.

Easy to use Good key value database,

  • June 18, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It offers significant advantages such as low latencies, high throughput, and seamless compatibility with Apache Cassandra. Key features include automatic tuning shard-per-core architecture and a self-optimizing system that fully leverages modern hardware. it is ideal for applications requiring efficient data management and high availability across distributed systems. We use it very frequently. Customer support is also good.
What do you dislike about the product?
As a relatively new database system, its community support is not as extensive as more established databases like MongoDB or Cassandra.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It offers both horizontal and vertical scaling handling large data assets efficiently. Making full use of the hardware lowers the total cost of ownership.
ScyllaDB self-optimizing features, reduce the need for complex manual tuning

ScyllaDB: The NoSQL Beast You Didn’t Know You Needed! + Discord is on SCYLLA!!

  • June 18, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I've recently started learning about ScyllaDB. As an open-source, community-based software, ScyllaDB is a robust and scalable NoSQL database designed to handle modern data needs effectively.

Why ScyllaDB ?

Diverse Flavours:
Open Source: Accessible for startups and small projects.
Enterprise Version: Enhanced features and support for mission-critical applications.
ScyllaDB Cloud: A seamless, scalable DBaaS offering.
No Vendor Lock-In:

No Vendor Lock-in : ScyllaDB can run on-premise or across various cloud hyperscalers, ensuring no vendor lock-in and future-proofing infrastructure decisions.
Performance and Scalability:

High performance and low latency make it an ideal replacement for Apache Cassandra and DynamoDB.
High Scalability: Add nodes vertically without any downtime.

Cost Efficient.
A low-cost solution providing significant savings compared to other NoSQL databases.

Also, we get advanced Features with latest Version 6.0:
The latest version introduces improved data modeling and more!

Community and Support:
A vibrant community and helpful support make it easier to optimize and troubleshoot :)
What do you dislike about the product?
I have limited background of NoSQL Databases. hence, for me, Learning Curve isone thing:
ScyllaDB can have a steep learning curve for those new to NoSQL databases or transitioning from SQL databases.

My other point of view is ScyllaDB can be Resource Intensive:
While it offers high performance, ScyllaDB can be resource-intensive, requiring careful planning and management of infrastructure.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
we are currently using a managed Oracle DB.
Apart from the High end distributed applocations I am trying to understand How ScyllaDB's can be best and effective used for Not so Huge and highly intensive Datasets.
