ScyllaDB Review from a Student

  • March 21, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I really enjoy ScyllaDB's ease of use when it comes to setting up serverless clusters. The documentation and resources are top-notch. The reliability and the options to fine-tune consistency with the various replication factors and consistency levels are fantastic for anyone who needs to ensure high consistency and or availability. Overall from my first experience with ScyllaDB, I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to explore big data and NoSQL databases.
What do you dislike about the product?
In my eyes, I think Scylla is excellent, but I think its use case is out of reach for the standard developer or student. Due to the focus on large-scale data operations, it sacrifices things like relational queries. It's a niche use case that not every project or company will fit, so I think that should be kept in mind.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's helping me solve large scale data storage for logging

Go for High Performance and Scalability

  • March 21, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
High Performance and Scalability are the two features I really like. We were able to achive very low latency after moving from Casandra to Scylla. Compatibility with Apache Cassandra i would say the other point.
What do you dislike about the product?
Lack of Documentation and community support is very limited some time I find it harder to find answers to their questions whenever I am stuck in any kinda of problem
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Scylla DB is optimized for low latency and high throughput, which makes it well-suited for type of applications that require faster response times and real-time data processing. This all things fits our usecases.

High performance, low hassle

  • March 21, 2023
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
My favorite thing about ScyllaDB is that although it's a powerful database that can easily scale horizontally and vertically, it's also easy to use. It's easy to set up, and as a NoSQL database, it's easy to query too. Plus, it's open source.
What do you dislike about the product?
Although it's easy to set up once you know how to use it, understanding the different ScyllaDB products can be a bit confusing initially.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
ScyllaDB let's me get up and running quickly woth a backend database for my projects so I don't have to set anything up manually.

ScyllaDB for NoSQL Novice

  • March 21, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
ScyllaDB is a latest NoSQL offering. It has both managed and non-managed service offerings that are cost-effective with lot of guided learning material to learn NoSQL and ScyllaDB.
What do you dislike about the product?
ScyllaDB is lacking the full text search. It forces to use Elastic Search to perform full text search. However, there is a steep learning curve for Elastic Search.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
ScyallDB is offering low cost DynamoDB equivalent with lot of access to knowledge on designing NOSQL schemas that's really helpful for NOSQL novice learners. Good Job.

Scylla is one stop solution for DB

  • February 18, 2023
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
ScyllaDB is great at scalability and Performance which makes it easy to quickly add or remove nodes from the cluster as necessary to accommodate escalating workloads or adapt to shifting traffic patterns. Because it employs a shared-nothing design, each node in the cluster is autonomous and has its own ability to function.
What do you dislike about the product?
Scylla's query capability is less comprehensive than other NoSQL databases, including MongoDB. Its applicability for particular use cases may be constrained
it does not provide all of the same query operators and functionalities.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Traditional databases might struggle to keep up as data quantities increase. They may also be susceptible to single points of failure, which reduces their dependability. By adding more nodes to the cluster, Scylla's distributed design helps databases to grow horizontally. it is highly fault-tolerant and able to manage massive amounts of data, guaranteeing that data is still accessible even in the event of a node failure.
