User friendly while going deep technically
What do you like best about the product?
Alation offers a great user interface that is intuitive to business users. Their customer support is also fantastic
What do you dislike about the product?
Alation offers open data connector and data quality plug ins. This means you have to license vendors seperately

The data catalog and it's search capabilities are the best in the industry. The employees are great and we have had fantastic support over the years.

The last of a DSA workflow request for those in our organization who would like to request data access.

It is providing a central data catalog solution for our organization.
Ablation Just Gets It
What do you like best about the product?
While the application is continually evolving, it's the support we get from the Alation team that sets them apart. Their model for continuous improvement is exactly what application vendors need to focus on. Not everything to everyone but listening to their customers to determine what's important now, not yesterday.
What do you dislike about the product?
Limited workflow capability. Workflows are key to automating governance tasks.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Classification of data assets. We leverage this to support our RBAC process within Redshift.
Robust data governance tool
What do you like best about the product?
I very much enjoy Alations data cataloging tools and ability to create a data community within my organization that exists in a central location.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is sometimes difficult to get some users to participate, though that is not really a.fault of the software itself.

Central location for business to find the data they need without looking in different folders for different excel docs.
