Hands-on learning enriches experiences at your own pace

  • February 12, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

I have been using Udemy to take courses, particularly one focused on Google's programming language. Although I have not completed the course due to time constraints, I find the platform excellent for self-paced learning without the need for an instructor to be present one-on-one.

What is most valuable?

Udemy provides the opportunity for hands-on experiences. There are labs available for users to run so that they can experience the real thing, not just the theory. This allows them to encounter real-life situations and learn how to handle them effectively.

What needs improvement?

The platform could improve by classifying courses into beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. Additionally, collaborating with governing bodies to offer certifications from original organizations like Cisco would be beneficial.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I would rate the stability of Udemy as eight out of ten.

The platform offers a variety of courses, unlike others which focus on specific subjects. The course certification is instructor-based and not linked to the official bodies involved in those courses.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Udemy is not currently a scalable solution since it offers a wide array of courses without relying on a single product or service. As such, scaling is not necessary in their unique category.

How are customer service and support?

I have never contacted Udemy support as I haven't encountered any issues requiring support during my courses.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

In my current organization, users mainly use Code Cloud, LinkedIn Learning, and Microsoft's learning platform due to our focus on Azure. Prior to joining my current workplace, I used Udemy since it was less expensive and provided a variety of courses.

How was the initial setup?

The setup for Udemy is straightforward.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Courses on Udemy are less expensive compared to other platforms, allowing learning at one's own pace.

What other advice do I have?

For those passionate about computing, networking, or programming, Udemy is one of the best platforms to choose. It offers affordable courses that you can take at your own pace. I did not have any issues using Udemy.

I would rate Udemy Business ten out of ten.

Udemy Business helps Organizations Train and Retain Talent

  • November 14, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The vast selection of courses available- they cover everything from soft skills and leadership type topics, so courses on very specific technical skills and systems. Everyone within our organization can utilize Udemy Business to help them build not only thier business skillsets, but also for personal growth.
What do you dislike about the product?
Wish they had more courses that pass federal and state compliance type requirements so that we didn't have to utilize an outside system for that type of training, such as courses on harrassment and discrimination, etc.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Udemy Business has assisted us with training up our talent on everything from software development trying to advance their careers as individual contributors, to employees trying to attain their PMP to advance their career options, to soft skills and leadership training for employees trying to go after a management career track.

A great application for learning on the go

  • February 15, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Udemy comes as an application too. This means you can also learn on the go. This is what makes it class apart. The UI is so simple to use yet effective. I have used it multiple times. The application and the site- both are seamless and effective to use and learn. You can also set your learning time and the app will provide you the reminder to learn. This is so awesome.
What do you dislike about the product?
There should be something in place to filter out expired and unauthentic courses.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Learning on the go. This is my main concern and Udemy just provides a solution for that.
