An easy-to-manage and deploy solution, but it should provide open customization
What is our primary use case?
Kandji is mostly meant for the Apple ecosystem and Apple devices.
What is most valuable?
You don't need a certification or great knowledge to manage and deploy the solution because it's not complex. It's a very easy plug-and-play solution where you can just enroll the devices and choose the features you want.
Kandji doesn't require much customization because it has built-in features that we have to create manually otherwise.
What needs improvement?
Kandji should have certification experience, which they don't have. Kandji should give open customization. Most customers find required features from other vendors, which Kandji doesn't have. It would be good if the solution could give a command line or script writing.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using Kandji for one year.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
Kandji is a pretty stable solution. You don't have to do many things because it has a support tool built into it.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Kandji is a scalable solution. I have deployed Kandji for three customers who were using approximately 10,000 devices.
How are customer service and support?
The solution's technical support is great. You can expect a revert from the support team in seven minutes.
How was the initial setup?
The solution’s initial setup is straightforward.
What about the implementation team?
The solution's deployment doesn't take more than 10 to 15 minutes. If you have a device, you just need to configure the APNs and identity manager, and then you can start enrolling the devices. Within one hour, you can see your devices are enrolled in it.
What was our ROI?
Our customers have seen a return on investment with Kandji. They reduced their one-time deployment cost and have seen a major difference between Windows and Mac devices.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
Users have to pay a yearly licensing fee for Kandji, which is expensive.
What other advice do I have?
Kandji is deployed on the cloud in our organization. One IT staff can manage the whole solution.
Kandji is the right solution for people who don't want to go through complete training or certification and want an Apple management tool. They don't have to invest much in training and certification since it is a pretty easy solution.
Overall, I rate Kandji a seven out of ten.
Intuitive MDM Software For Apple Devices
What do you like best about the product?
Kandji's Suppor team has really made their software standout. MDM setup was smooth and easy to roll out to our company. Along the way though the documentation and the Support's ability to articulate and help us thorugh any issues we ran into has what's really made Kandji stand out. Their continued look to the future and rolling out new updates is also appriciated. They are keen to help roll out new idea's that are brought to their attention.
What do you dislike about the product?
Password management isn't always smooth. Take the time to train your team how to use the password management system and things should smooth out over time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We needed a solution to manange our fleet of Mac products effeciently with out remoting onto individual machines and doing tasks such as updates. Kandji makes keeping our software and system OS's up to date easy and effecient.
Set and forget
What do you like best about the product?
The overall ease of use compared to the competition. Having experience with Jamf, coming to a company where Kandji was already implemented was a dream come true. While the system as a whole may not be as powerful on the micro level and Jamf the macro is all you have to work about because Kandji takes care of the rest for you. The blueprint system is fantastic and on top of device management from the software perspective it doubles as a place to manage activity by department. I could really go on about how much easier it makes my life but give a try for yourself, you won't be disappointed.
What do you dislike about the product?
It isn't really a huge issue for us but I could see how the price may cause some complications for smaller businesses or companies entering into the world of an MDM bringing a lot of devices with them. Beyond that it's a very solid product with fantastic support behind it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Resource management (hardware), employee onboarding/offboarding, departmental updates to apps for different use cases and assistance to our support department for faster ticket investigations and fixes.
Kandji is a simple to use MDM app
What do you like best about the product?
Kandji is simple and easy to use. Flexible setup for admins and helps us easily enforce soc2 type2 controls among the company. It allows us to easily streamline apps and controls among users so we can easily reissue computers and securely setup new computers.
What do you dislike about the product?
If you use another mdm prior to transitioning it can be a bit annoying if there are hiccups with issues uninstalling the previous mdm
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
MDM management to help us meet soc2 type2 controls and easily standardize on applications and login flows w/ Okta
Good but pricing stucture isnt great and customer support is challenging
What do you like best about the product?
The ease of having all system logged and kept up to date.
What do you dislike about the product?
Pricing, we hit 50 computers and the next jump is 75. So we added the 51st computer and they would only do 75 as net level, so we are paying for 24 computer slots we aren't even using. Also, customer support is challenging. We had a script for printers that didn't work. When asking for support you just get sent 2 line emails telling you to use a 3rd party app. 7 emails in now and still can't get it resolved.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have all our devices in one place.
Simply the best MDM for Apple devices
What do you like best about the product?
I have been using Kandji for about 3 years and it continues to be easy to use for an admin while also providing the best digital experience for the end user. Kandji's agent is built with a modern UI and contains all of the necessary information with notifications for end users to complete application and OS updates seamlessly. Deploying and updating custom applications with Kandji is seamless even when needing to add pre-install and post-install scripts for macOS.
The Kandji Self Service app library is amazing and was quickly adopted by our Apple end users. For macOS, the auto app library managed by the Kandji teams is incredible and saves our admins so much time with application packaging and update management. I'm really happy to see how large the auto app library is and that the Kandji team continues to grow it for its customers! It is a game-changing feature for my team.
Implementation was seamless and enrollments are easy when integrated with Apple Business Manager.
Their customer support is amazing and it's easy to get in touch with a support agent via their chat from the admin console. If you're looking for the best-in-class MDM for Apple products, Kandji is the one.
What do you dislike about the product?
Honestly, there is nothing I can think of to dislike about Kandji. The Kandji team has truly designed and continues to improve an incredible product.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Kandji solves the security issue of protecting our Apple devices by allowing our team to restrict certain OS features, enforce encryption, etc while also keeping our Apple devices configured with a company-wide standard which gives our employees the best experience. With the Kandji MDM, our IT team can easily support all Apple devices in our environment.
Easy to use, helpful team
What do you like best about the product?
The team at Kandji is very helpful, supportive, and available. Implementation for our team was simple and intuitive. Being able to send a link and code for new users makes installing Kandji on their device very easy as an Admin. The blueprints make it easy to group and assign systems for our team so everyone has what they need.
What do you dislike about the product?
We haven't had any negative experiences with Kandji.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
- User management
- Systems/tool assignments by group using blueprints
- Security
Easy entry level Mac MDM platform; but with gotchas
What do you like best about the product?
Kandji is easy to get started with for management and enrollment; the direct integration right from a fresh install and boot is awesome - especially being able to integrate with our IDP.
The blueprint pattern is great - as is the ability to bind user groups from the IDP to specific blueprints for automatic assignment.
Once you configure Kandji fully - it's nearly entirely hands off - rarely having to log in unless having to assist with debugging user issues. You don't have to babysit it and update everything constantly.
What do you dislike about the product?
Kandji's pricing has nearly doubled after a year. This came as a complete shock upon renewal. The featureset they provide (or have changed in the last year) is not really worth the doubling in cost from my perspective.
The number of navigations needed to setup and manage blueprints effectively is annoying - and quite challenging to effectively manage devices. The constant redirects and being kicked back to the wrong subsection breaks the ease of use workflow when editing library items from a blueprint.
Occasionally - devices will become disconnected from the MDM - requiring end user interaction to re-sync/re-enroll.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We're using Kandji to meet compliance and device management requirements for SOC 2; and for our internal policies. We also utilize it heavily to monitor device health and make sure devices are kept up to date with services (ie - battery health).
best product and customer service
What do you like best about the product?
-ease of use
-ease of implementation
-great customer support
-keeps improving with new features
-integration features
What do you dislike about the product?
-lack of reporting features from the webUI
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
-simplified our device enrollment process (zero touch deployment)
-integration with Google Workspace (Passport, device assignments and group based scoping)
Very easy to accomplish the basics.
What do you like best about the product?
The ease of use and slow learning curve, at least for someone who has spent time managing Apple devices previously. However, the interface is very well thought out and easy to navigate around.
What do you dislike about the product?
While easy to use, the portal could be more customizable. Also, any substantial reporting on local devices has to be done via the API outside of the portal which isn't great. The ability to get granular with scoping without moving machines to separate blueprints could also be improved.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Zero-touch deployments and overall device management.
