Stability and Long-Term Support: CentOS 7 is known for its stability, reliability, and long-term support. It is built on the same source code as Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), which undergoes rigorous testing and is renowned for its robustness.
CentOS 7 prioritizes security and provides regular security updates to ensure the system remains protected against vulnerabilities. It benefits from the strong security measures implemented in RHEL, making it suitable for environments that require high-level security.
CentOS 7 is fully binary compatible with RHEL. This compatibility makes CentOS 7 a reliable and cost-effective alternative to RHEL for organizations that do not require official support.
CentOS 7 utilizes the YUM (Yellowdog Updater Modified) package management system, which simplifies the installation, removal, and updating of software packages. The vast repository of CentOS packages provides a wide range of software options to meet various needs.
CentOS 7 is well-suited for server deployments. It offers robust server features like web server capabilities (Apache), database server capabilities (MySQL/MariaDB, PostgreSQL), email server capabilities (Postfix, Dovecot), and more. It also supports virtualization technologies such as KVM and Docker.
Whether you are running web applications, databases, content management systems, or enterprise software, CentOS 7 provides a reliable platform to host and support these applications.
