Great product, robust and feature rich
What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate how simple it is to get set up on multiple different platforms. I also like that I can customize having different types of alerts. There is also a lot of security in knowing that this is a trusted brand I have used for a long time.
What do you dislike about the product?
The UI could be updated to be more modern. It's clean and functional, but I wouldn't call it inspiring.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Solving uptime and performance monitoring of a host of servers. Loads of benefits, can have people fixing issues ASAP with information about the problems ready to go.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Reach out to some of the people at new relic if you are unsure about what you need, or are looking for a custom business solution.

Fundamental for our Application Monitoring
What do you like best about the product?
New Relic is great to monitor applications. It has very intuitive dashboards that allows you to see your app performance in real time. In my case: error rate, response time & transactions fundamental metrics for software monitoring.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes it has too many UX changes and you a little bit lost. For new users can be too much information to look at the same time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Improving APIs performance, reducing time spent in transactions and monitoring error rates.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I personally recommend to complement New Relic metrics with Datadog.
New Relic a good ally for highly scalable systems
What do you like best about the product?
This tool is the best ally you can have while monitoring large scalable systems. I had the chance to work with it for over a year and a half for a major US ecommerce platform for pet products, and this tool allowed us to know when our websites were having spikes, traffic issues, when was needed a node reboot, etc.
What do you dislike about the product?
So far there's not much that I don't like, the only thing would be that this great tool due to its pricing is not so accessible for small and medium business.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
While monitoring a major scalable ecommerce platform this was great to know which processes were crashing our web servers and at which time.
This lead to optimize many business processes and to take the right actions like rebooting replica nodes at the right time.

Gold Standard Monitoring - New Relic
What do you like best about the product?
New Relic is the gold standard in website/server monitoring.
What do you dislike about the product?
With so many features, it can be hard to know where to look to get the information that will help diagnose issues.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We implement our solution in a variety of hosting scenarios, some are less optimized for the workflow of the site so it often has problems with how fast the site is responding or it's general availability. New Relic helps us find those issues to make code changes that optimize the site for that specific hosting environment.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you're making a site that you want available for public consumption, you need to make sure you're using New Relic to monitoring the site.
Indispensable tool for developers
What do you like best about the product?
New Relic is one of those pieces of software that literally changed my life as an engineer. The tools that New Relic provides paired with their constant innovation have resulted in making me a better engineer, improving the products I work on, and providing vast insight into how the software I build works under the hood. I can't imagine working without New Relic now.
What do you dislike about the product?
My only issues with New Relic in the past have been related to reliability of some of their more experimental services and also with their speed. For a while, certain features would crash and just not work (thread profiler for example) at all. Over the last few years they're really got things working in top shape though. In addition, when things would break, their service would reply very quickly and help us figure things out.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use New Relic to monitor application performance and health and especially as a tool for performance optimization. When I was working on large scale web software serving over 60million monthly unique users, New Relic was the most powerful tool we had for finding performance bottlenecks and digging in to figure out how to solve them.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
USE IT! The interface can take a while to get up to speed on, but there are tons of videos and tutorials to help you learn to integrate it into your flow. Pricing can get really high really quickly though if you're scaling horizontally... We eventually had ~450 servers running and we were spending a lot of money.
Everything you wanted to know (about your server) but were too afraid to ask.
What do you like best about the product?
There is literally no stat too small or obscure for New Relic to report. It has everything you could possibly imagine and their pricing is perfect. New Relic grows with your business from startup to enterprise so that pricing grows as you do.
What do you dislike about the product?
All the option can be inundating. New Relic has an insane amount of options but there's really not much to dislike.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Finding the bottlenecks in your application and make sure you avoid major pitfalls before they start throwing errors. Once you use new relic you can't imagine a world without it!
Recommendations to others considering the product:
New relic basically does everything you need. The only trouble is figuring out where to start and which metrics are most important for your particular app. The learning curve can be quite high but mostly just figuring out how to tailor it to your needs. Their forum is a good place to start and they have great docs.
Backend X-ray
What do you like best about the product?
Transaction tracing across hosts. Error alerts. Scalability analysis.
What do you dislike about the product?
The UI is a little overwhelming at times.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Comparing current transaction performance with historical periods allowed us to easily identify the bottlenecks in our backend.
It monitors my servers. Mail me when bad happens, and profile it when good happens
What do you like best about the product?
It monitors and relate several aspects of the service. The main one, response time, is split on the "layers" of backend, like "python, redis, postgres, network"
What do you dislike about the product?
The free version is very feature-complete, but the 1st level of paid one is very expensive IMHO
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
My crap hosting provider does not recognise when bad happens. New relic tells me what, why and give lots of clues on how to solve it.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Is easy to start, but not dumb-proof. Please put effort on it. Will payoff on your 1st outage or performance issue
Must have tool for professional software development
What do you like best about the product?
If you don't know NewRelic, you should stop reading it and visit their website. New Relic is the best tool for software application active-analysis that every company should pay for.
New Relic can log your application errors with all information about it (headers, request parameters, error response) including error type, error date and time and even counting how many times an error occur between some time space.
Also, NewRelic measures how your application performs: how many secs your app taken to response a given request.
NewRelic has a great Profiling tool which can describe by method call level, which method is consuming more time/resource to be done, request by request. This is a huge help to find software implementation problems and also, to check if your submission in fact solve it later.
It also has Alerts to e-mail you (or your team) if your application goes offline or starting to error more than your configured Threshold.
Everything can be configured; but if you doesn't know how to, you can use their defaults which is great, too.
NewRelic support is awesome. Well trained people with great support by e-mail, phone or even conference call (depending on your plan).

What do you dislike about the product?
If you have your application deployed on Heroku, I advise you to contact NewRelic team for price negotiations. Otherwise, you may expense more than expected with NewRelic by its price per dyno.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Profiling; Error Alerts; Active Monitoring; Software Analysis; Software Application logging.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try it for free into your real world application. You won't be disappointed.
