Asana...if you're into that sorta thing.

  • May 05, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana is great for a particular type of organizational mind. If you're that type, enjoy it to its fullest.
What do you dislike about the product?
Asana looks and feels like an emotionless pit of soul crushing tasks that will haunt you until completed. The design team could have truly used more tactical empathy training.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Partners have used Asana to deliver film production notes. This could be very efficient, and at its core, it is. However, the delivery method and experience of Asana is not built for creatives, and therefore, it is polarizing.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Use it to deliver tasks for your team if the tool fits your leadership style.

    Education Management

Not new user friendly

  • April 23, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
In theory, it has all of the built in functions I need (task assignment, creation of subtasks with deadlines, attachment of files, etc)
What do you dislike about the product?
The overall design is neither appealing nor efficient. It is not easy to navigate or easily track progress without multiple clicks. It lacks the visual cleanliness of other project management programs
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We're testing it out to use for project run by the education team but completed by others. At this point, many people are just ignoring it and using their own tracking methods since asana is a pain

  • April 06, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
You could assign multiple tasks to team members in the program.
What do you dislike about the product?
It was difficult to keep track of assignments and not very user friendly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We were trying to organize the project management aspect of the business.

    Health, Wellness and Fitness

OK, but not great.

  • January 19, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
That different tasks could be assigned to different people and could view longitudinal display of tasks completed, past-due, and up-coming.
What do you dislike about the product?
Couldn't adjust timeline (GANNT) view of project to get good look at overall project. Also, didn't see how to view multiple timelines (i.e., for different projects) at the same time to get a good overview of all projects organization (or manager) had under their purview.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Managing cross-functional virtual teams.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Something to look at and compare to other options - including just Excell, Word, and Powerpoint for tracking and reporting, etc..

Asana is ok if you don't have requirements

  • December 27, 2018
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
There are some things I like about Asana. I like Asana's Kanban, tags, and the copy and paste of tasks. I like that you can add child tasks. I like there's a calendar associated with each project. I think Asana is starting to build out their software and I think they're listening to their end-users.
What do you dislike about the product?
This is not a mature tool by any means. It's fine if you're using it for yourself but I wouldn't recommend introducing Asana to your team. Why?
1. Notification is all or nothing. You can either turn on notifications or you can't. You can't toggle the notifications.
2. Relying on 3rd party for burndown charts. A lot of software project management includes a burndown chart. Asana uses a third-party app, screenful.me. You have to pay for it and it doesn't give clarity into the project's status.
3. Disjointed projects. You cannot see holistically the status of your projects. This means you have to click inside each one.
4. Struggles talking to 3rd party APIs. For some reason there is an initial sync and then the handshake drops. This happened across multiple APIs.
5. If you've used other mature tools then you'll probably struggle using Asana. It doesn't provide enough clarity or detail to be able to make decisions.
6. Very difficult to prioritize tasks. You can move tasks up and down but that's it. You also can't view tasks and subtasks across a project. You can only view the subtasks if the task is open.
7. No automated workflows. Makes no sense as your team has to remember the process for doing X. If you have a lot of teams this can get messy very quickly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The one business benefit I realized was tool selection criteria needed to be tighter. I wasn't here when Asana was chosen and the tool gets in the way of progress. I inherited the role of admin.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make your PM software selection criteria list tool agnostic. Can't imagine a mature organization ever using this. Might as well use Excel to track your project at this rate.

What do you like best about the product?
I like the jumping unicorn when I complete a task, but not enough to use this software exclusively for task setting.
What do you dislike about the product?
The inability to set recurring tasks is no good
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Integrates well with our in-house platform
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Use Highrise instead

Good time management missing some important features

  • January 27, 2018
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Ease of use and ability to use mobile devices to track project progress. Free to try. Full featur d one is affordable.
What do you dislike about the product?
No time tracking option to make hourly billing easy. Would really like to link hours to projects to allow for easy billing to clients.
Email goes out to everyone on the team whenever a change is made.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are trying to corrdinate multiple projects across multiple people and track project progress in a manner so that all the people in the office have access to progress.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If your looking for time tracking look elsewhere

Poor management software - too busy in the interface. too long to set up.

  • October 02, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I did like the interface. I enjoyed it for my own personal management and project tracking.
What do you dislike about the product?
I found that other staff were difficult to buy into it because of it's technical nature. It did not have enough tutorial for new users.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I had been trying to manage a team that worked at odd hours. They were young, so they know the technical side, but they were unimpressed.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Take your time to set it u- I was moving too fast when I was trying to set it up for my team.

Asana is a waste

  • July 28, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I don't really like anything about asana. I suppose it has a simple Intuitive interface but i juat dont really get the concept. Maybe I'm just really organized, more so than other people, but I just don't get why a company would pay for something like this.
What do you dislike about the product?
Mostly the concept of the software. It's just unnecessary to me maybe it makes more sense in other areas of the business but on the sales side I hate it
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
They use it to track progress or assign items to people that need to be completed.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Do you really need this?
