See Legacy AWS Free Tier for more details.
You pay by the hour for a preconfigured WordPress image running on hardened Debian 13. Pricing has one structure: an hourly software rate tied to the EC2 instance type you choose. Every option bills per hour (Hrs), so your cost scales with how long each instance runs. The many choices are not feature tiers. They are EC2 instance sizes and families, from small general-purpose types to large compute, memory, storage, and accelerated types. Larger instances carry more resources and a higher hourly rate. You select the instance that fits your workload and pay only while it runs.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one billing unit represent for this WordPress image?
One unit is one hour of running an EC2 instance that uses this image. You pay the software rate for each hour the instance runs. The rate depends on the EC2 instance type you launch. Each running instance meters its own hours separately.
Am I charged the software rate when my instance is stopped or paused?
The software rate meters running time only. A stopped or paused instance does not accrue the hourly software charge. You may still pay underlying AWS fees for attached storage, but the image licence bills per active running hour.
If I move to a larger instance type, how does my hourly cost change?
The image carries one hourly software rate tied to the EC2 instance type you run. Moving to a larger type applies that type's rate for every hour it runs. The change takes effect when you launch the new type. Larger types carry more resources and a higher hourly rate.
