Dimensions summary
You pay by the hour for the Fedora 42 image, billed per running instance. Pricing attaches to the AWS EC2 instance type you choose, so each dimension maps to a specific instance size and family. Smaller general-purpose types like t1.micro or m1.small cost less per hour, while compute-, memory-, storage-, and accelerator-optimized families and large or metal instances cost more. Your hourly rate scales with the size and capability of the instance you run. Support is included with the image. You pay only for the hours your instances stay running.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
Each unit is one running EC2 instance of the type you select, billed per hour. The rate ties to that instance family and size. Running two instances of the same type bills two hourly rates. The charge covers the Fedora 42 image and included support, not the underlying AWS compute, which AWS bills separately.
The hourly software fee meters running time only. A stopped or paused instance does not accrue the Fedora 42 hourly charge. You resume charges when the instance runs again. Note that AWS may still bill underlying storage for a stopped instance, separate from this software fee.
The hourly rate follows the instance type you launch. Moving to a larger or more capable family, such as a memory-optimized or metal type, applies that type's higher rate for each hour it runs. The change takes effect when you launch the new instance; there is no automatic tier upgrade.
