You pay by the hour for the software running on an Amazon EC2 instance. The price you pay depends on which EC2 instance type you choose. Each listed dimension matches one instance type, from small shared instances up to large compute, memory, storage, and accelerated types. Larger instances carry higher hourly rates because they provide more compute, memory, or storage capacity. There are no tiers or feature bundles to select. You simply match the instance size to your workload, and billing tracks your actual running hours. The software image includes the same pre-configured LAMP stack across all instance choices.

What resources do I get for a given hourly rate?
Each hourly rate maps to one Amazon EC2 instance type. The instance type sets your vCPU, memory, storage, and any accelerator capacity. Small shared types like t3.nano provide modest resources. Large types like m6a.48xlarge or memory-optimized types like x2iedn.metal provide much more. You pick the type that fits your workload.
Am I charged for the software when the instance is stopped?
The hourly software charge meters running time only. A fully stopped instance does not accrue the software charge. Note that AWS may still bill underlying storage or other resource fees while the instance is stopped, but that is separate from the software licence charge.
What is included in the software image across all instance types?
Every instance choice runs the same pre-configured LAMP stack on Ubuntu 26.04 LTS. The image ships with current updates applied. The instance type you select changes only the compute resources and hourly rate, not the software packaged inside the image.
