What does one hour of billing cover, and am I charged when the instance is stopped?
One unit is one hour that a single EC2 instance runs this image. You pick an instance type, and its hourly software rate meters running time. Stopped or powered-off instances do not accrue software charges. Underlying AWS storage fees may still apply while an instance is stopped.
How does my cost change if I move to a larger instance type?
The image runs the same across all instance types. Your hourly rate is tied to the instance you select. Moving to a type with more compute, memory, storage, or accelerators raises the hourly cost. Switching down lowers it. The change takes effect when you launch the new instance type.
What is included with this hardened image, and what do I pay on top of it?
You get a hardened Node.js 18 build on Amazon Linux 2023, deployed with current updates for security and performance. You pay the hourly software rate for the image plus standard AWS infrastructure charges for the underlying EC2 instance. Support is available by ticket through the vendor.
