AWS Marketplace now accepts line of credit payments through the PNC Vendor Finance program. This program is available to select AWS customers in the US, excluding NV, NC, ND, TN, & VT.
Pricing is based on actual usage, with charges varying according to how much you consume. Subscriptions have no end date and may be canceled any time. Alternatively, you can pay upfront for a contract, which typically covers your anticipated usage for the contract duration. Any usage beyond contract will incur additional usage-based costs.
Additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator to estimate your infrastructure costs.
If you are an AWS Free Tier customer with a free plan, you are eligible to subscribe to this offer. You can use free credits to cover the cost of eligible AWS infrastructure. See AWS Free Tier for more details. If you created an AWS account before July 15th, 2025, and qualify for the Legacy AWS Free Tier, Amazon EC2 charges for Micro instances are free for up to 750 hours per month. See Legacy AWS Free Tier for more details.
You pay by the hour for a preconfigured Docker image running on your chosen Amazon EC2 instance. Each dimension maps to a specific EC2 instance type, so pricing scales with the instance you select. Smaller instances like t3.nano or c7a.medium carry lower hourly rates. Larger instances such as p5.48xlarge or the metal sizes carry higher rates, reflecting more CPU, memory, and specialized hardware. There are no tiers or commitments; you run only the instances you need and stop paying when you stop them. The software charge applies on top of the underlying EC2 infrastructure cost.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What do I actually get when I run one of these hourly instances?
You get a preconfigured Docker image deployed on the Amazon EC2 instance type you select. The image ships with recent updates applied. Each dimension corresponds to one specific EC2 instance size, so the hardware you receive matches the instance name you choose.
Am I still charged the software fee when my instance is stopped?
The software charge meters running time by the hour. When you stop an instance, the hourly software charge stops accruing. You pay only for the hours the instance actually runs. Underlying AWS storage fees for stopped instances are billed separately by AWS.
How does my total bill combine the software charge and the EC2 cost?
Two charges apply per running hour. The software charge for the Docker image is billed on top of the standard AWS EC2 infrastructure cost for the instance you select. Both accrue at the same time and scale with the instance size you choose.

The use case for Docker on Amazon 2023 is when you have an application and need to containerize it. You can create a Dockerfile, which is a file with instructions about what you need for your container. If you need a specific operating system to run your application, in the Dockerfile you can put the operating system that you can use in your container.
Principally, we are running microservices with Java, using the Spring Boot framework with Docker on Amazon 2023.
