Skills to Jobs Tech Alliance: India

A national coalition of employers, educational institutions, and government agencies that addresses the skills gap and prepares learners for in-demand tech jobs.

Building tech skills together

The scarcity of cloud talent is a major concern for many businesses and often reported as a key barrier to cloud adoption. The Amazon Web Services (AWS) Skills to Jobs Tech Alliance forges new paths for individuals to develop cloud expertise and enter the technology workforce. The Tech Alliance in India brings together a coalition of AWS customers and partners, government bodies, workforce development organizations, and educational institutions to prepare learners for tech job roles such as cloud engineer, cloud administration, and devops engineering.

AWS work backwards from employers to identify specific skills and roles and collaboratively design and vet learning pathways that align to those skill requirements. In addition, employers may support by evaluating curricula, developing capstone projects, providing internships, and creating hiring events exclusive to participating educational institutions.

The India Tech Alliance includes leading higher education institutions, universities and various government entities. The growing list of Tech Alliance employers includes companies across industries such as consulting, manufacturing, information technology, and professional services.

Why India

AlphaBeta Digital Skills Report, 2022 commissioned by AWS highlighted that by 2025, three of the top five digital skills employers expect to demand are cloud-related. According to a report by National Association of Software and Services Companies (Nasscom), Cloud Skills: Powering India's Digital DNA, launched in association with Draup 2021, the demand for cloud professionals in India may touch two million by 2025.

As per AWS and Gallup Asia Pacific Digital Skills Study – The Economic Benefits of a Tech-Savvy Workforce 2023, cloud technology appears to facilitate revenue growth- 21% of Indian organizations that run most of their business on the cloud report a doubling of annual revenue growth or more, compared with 9% that run some or none of their business on the cloud. Advanced digital skills- such as cloud architecture and software development-raise India’s annual GDP by an estimated US$ 507.9 billion (INR 10.9 trillion) by boosting workers’ income and productivity. More than nine in 10 (91%) Indian workers with advanced digital skills express high job satisfaction, compared to 74% of workers with intermediate digital skills and 70% of workers with basic digital skills. AWS is investing in the future of India technology community and workforce by helping student learners expand their cloud skill sets.
