App Developers – Get Ready for Japan!

Millions of our customers have used the Amazon Appstore in the US to discover and buy Android applications for their phones and tablets.

We have recently expanded distribution beyond the US  into the United Kingdom, Italy, France, Germany, and Spain. Continuing our international expansion, I’m pleased to announce that app developers can submit mobile apps now for distribution later this year in Japan. To learn more or to submit your app, visit the Amazon Mobile App Distribution Portal.

Developers can build, market, and monetize their application, while enjoying access to an audience that is hungry for apps and ready to make a purchase. They can also use services such as In-App Purchasing to sell digital content and subscriptions such as in-game currency, expansion packs, upgrades, or magazine subscriptions  from within their apps. We also provide a number of marketing and awareness-building campaigns such as the Free App of the Day.

For games that require processing, storage, or content distribution services, AWS is a great match. Visit the AWS game hosting page to learn how companies such as KingNet, Playfish, Gumi, Onoko, and Cmune are using AWS to host and run their games and to provide an economical, high-quality experience at any scale. Developers can also use Amazon’s GameCircle to integrate important features such as leaderboards, achievements, and syncing of game state into their games. These services are available as part of the Amazon Mobile App SDK.
