Using generative AI to build the ultimate VALORANT esports team
Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Riot Games are calling on esports fans and builders alike to participate in the VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT) Hackathon: Esports Manager Challenge. This new hackathon will put the latest generative AI tools in the hands of fans to unlock new ways to build and develop stronger esports teams.
VALORANT is a tactical first-person-shooter game by Riot Games, combining precise gunplay with unique agent abilities in a strategic 5v5 format. The VCT is the official esports league for the game, featuring regional qualifiers, leagues, and culminating in a global championship. As part of AWS and Riot Game’s long-term esports collaboration, the companies are introducing the Esports Manager Challenge—giving fans an opportunity to apply their data analysis and generative AI skills in an esports environment.
Participants will act as if they were hired as a data scientist on a new VALORANT Esports team and have been tasked by the team’s general manager to support the scouting and recruitment process. They will then create a large language model (LLM)-powered digital assistant to build teams and answer various questions about VALORANT Esports players.
Leveraging the generative AI capabilities of Amazon Bedrock, participants will use provided data sources to demonstrate effective information retrieval and analysis, creating a digital assistant that enhances the understanding of VALORANT’s dynamic esports scene. Digital assistants should be capable of intelligently building teams, evaluating player roles and strategies, and providing data-backed insights using Amazon Bedrock.
Riot Games is providing access to robust data sources and approved community resources related to the professional VALORANT scene. Having quality data allows players to retrieve information effectively, make insightful analyses, and create impactful AI model outputs.
To celebrate outstanding submissions, AWS and Riot Games have pooled together over $60,000 for award-winning players. The top three projects will receive cash prizes, AWS credits, and meetings with AWS/Riot technical teams. Special prize categories will also recognize areas such as cross-regional, and rising star team submissions.
For more details on requirements, judging criteria, and participation guidelines, visit the official hackathon page. Participants can register until October 23, 2024 – 04:00PM CST.
We’re excited to see what ground-breaking LLM solutions our talented community will create for the future of esports.
