Accelerating new materials design with open data on AWS

The Materials Project at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) is an open database that offers information about material properties, or, all the elements and substances that make up the products we use every day. By harnessing the power of the Department of Energy’s (DOE) high-performance scientific computing and state of the art electronic structure methods, the Materials Project provides open web-based access on AWS to computational datasets on both known and potential materials, along with powerful analysis tools to help discover, inspire, and design new materials.

Data egress waiver available for eligible researchers and institutions

The Global Data Egress Waiver (GDEW) program helps eligible researchers and academic institutions use AWS cloud storage, computing, and database services by waiving data egress fees. GDEW can be a valuable tool that gives eligible researchers and institutions a more predictable budget, which in turns allows them to have more direct access to the cloud than they might otherwise. Find out if your team is eligible to take advantage of the data egress waiver program.

Announcing AWS Global Data Egress Discount for K12 and Primary Education

In 2016, Amazon Web Services (AWS) committed to offering data egress discounts to researchers to help decrease barriers to entry for cloud computing. Now, AWS is announcing that the same waiver will apply to K12 and primary education customers in the United States, making it easier for schools and district to use their cloud storage, computing, and database services.

New Low-Cost Option to Access AWS Direct Connect through Internet2

Using AWS Direct Connect, Internet2 and NET+ members can now establish private connectivity between AWS and their datacenter, office, or colocation environment, which can reduce network costs, increase bandwidth throughput, and provide a more consistent network experience than Internet-based connections. Internet2, a member-owned advanced technology community, provides a collaborative environment for U.S. research and education organizations to solve common technology challenges and to develop innovative solutions in support of their educational, research, and community service missions.

AWS Offers Data Egress Discount to Researchers
