AWS awarded PROTECTED certification in Australia
The Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) has awarded PROTECTED certification to AWS for 42 of our cloud services. This is the highest data security certification available in Australia for cloud service providers, and AWS offers the most PROTECTED services of any public cloud service provider. You will find AWS on the ACSC’s Certified Cloud Services List (CCSL) at PROTECTED for AWS services, including Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2), Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3), AWS Lambda, AWS Key Management Service (AWS KMS), and Amazon GuardDuty.
We worked with the ACSC to develop a solution that meets Australian government security requirements while also offering a breadth of services so you can run highly sensitive workloads on AWS at scale. These certified AWS services are available within our existing AWS Asia-Pacific (Sydney) Region and cover service categories such as compute, storage, network, database, security, analytics, application integration, management, and governance. This means customers can take advantage of all the security benefits without paying a price premium, or needing to modify their existing applications or environments.
Since March 2018, you’ve been able to assess and self-certify at PROTECTED under the Australian Digital Transformation Agency’s Secure Cloud Strategy, but our inclusion on the CCSL at PROTECTED removes this extra step. With our increased level of certification, you can build applications on AWS that meet the Australian government’s security requirements for highly sensitive workloads.
We have several additional resources to help you begin building at PROTECTED on AWS. The ACSC Consumer Guide and AWS IRAP PROTECTED Reference Architecture are available today on AWS Artifact to help you build applications on AWS. The IRAP Certification Report, ACSC Certification Report and ACSC Certification Letter, also on AWS Artifact, allow you to dive deep into our security approach.
If you have questions about our PROTECTED certification or would like to inquire about how to use AWS for your highly sensitive workloads, contact your account team.
