The Value of AWS Professional Services for APN Partners
Guest post by Todd Weatherby, Director of AWS Professional Services Worldwide
Hello APN Partners!
I’m excited to share with you an update about the AWS Professional Services team. We set up the AWS Professional Services team almost three years ago in response to requests from APN Partners and enterprise customers for help with implementation of the AWS Cloud model. Since then, we’ve set up small teams of AWS specialists in 18 cities in 11 countries and delivered over 200 engagements. Based on patterns from those engagements, we’ve developed specialty practices including infrastructure architecture, security, compliance, application optimization, analytics, operational integration and IT transformation advisory services.
A big part of the mission of AWS Professional Services is to help APN Partners deliver great value to our mutual enterprise customers worldwide. Over the last few years we’ve worked with many APN Partners to help them build capabilities in their AWS line of business and win bigger deals. Through our APN Partners, we have also coordinated service delivery to commercial and government customers.

To better understand how we engage and how APN Partners benefit, consider how we’re working with Datapipe, an AWS managed cloud provider and APN Premier Consulting Partner based in Jersey City, New Jersey, USA. When they made a strategic commitment to build a bigger business around AWS, they engaged AWS Professional Services specialists to help optimize their solutions and services for the AWS platform.
By working with AWS Professional Services, Datapipe has built upon their proven success record and is even more equipped to help customers assess and migrate to the Datapipe Managed Services for AWS in a rapid, strategic and controlled manner. The in-depth interactions and dedication of the AWS Professional Services team has benefited both companies by allowing specialists to participate in customer engagements and expand the future horizon of Datapipe’s offerings.
Datapipe’s customers are recognizing the benefits of this relationship. “By teaming up with AWS Professional Services, Datapipe customers can have confidence in the solutions we deliver and manage on the AWS platform. As the IT environments of organizations continue to evolve, the need for a firm who understands multi-platform IT solutions is greater than ever. Datapipe strives to support our customers with the solutions that meet their needs and for many of our customers the AWS platform is vital for their success,” said Dan Newton, COO of Datapipe.
To learn more about our AWS specialists and resources available to you, take a look at the AWS Professional Services webpage in the enterprise section of the AWS website. In particular, check out the new AWS Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF), and consider how you may be able to use it to help customers understand how to structure the work and get results fast using AWS. As we gain experience with the newest AWS Services and new workloads using AWS, we will continue to share repeatable offerings and reusable assets with APN Partners.
Best wishes to you all for a strong finish to 2014! Together, we’re bringing a new IT operating model to the market worldwide. Together, we’re changing the game. We’re looking forward to helping APN Partners earn many more wins and customer references in the year ahead and beyond!
If you want to pull us in or if you have questions, please contact your AWS Partner Development Manager (PDM) and they’ll get you to the right people quickly. Thanks for being a valuable APN Partner!
