Federal departments and agencies share how the cloud helps advance their missions

From healthcare to veteran services to aerospace research, federal agencies have leveraged the cloud to advance their missions. With benefits from the cloud, such as cost savings, data redundancy, and opportunities to adopt emerging technology, federal customers can better serve and protect their constituents. Three federal agencies recently shared how they improved efficiency through information technology (IT) modernization to ultimately better serve citizens.

At the AWS Public Sector Summit in Canberra, Australia, more than 1,300 technologists convened to learn about digital transformation through cloud technologies, and were able to get inspired, dive deep, and begin to build. Keynote speakers highlighted the impact AWS can have on the individual, society, security, government, and the economy in the Australia and New Zealand region.

To Our Veterans, Thank You for Your Service

AWS is committed to helping address high rates of veteran unemployment through our partnership with government and veterans’ organizations. We, along with other divisions of Amazon, have created a number of programs focused on providing employment resources, educational access, and wellness programs aimed at helping veterans transition after their years of service.

Vets.gov on AWS GovCloud (US): A Single Place for Veterans to Discover, Apply for, Track, and Manage Their Benefits

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) provides patient care and federal benefits to Veterans and their dependents. The organization is split up into silos of health, benefit, and cemetery benefits; VA’s web presence was similarly fractured and users had difficulty interacting with VA online. The U.S. Digital Service team at VA looked across VA’s many products from the point of view of the Veteran. What do they want to do? How do they want to interact with VA? They started as a small team, iteratively building out features on Vets.gov.
