Announcing the end of support for Ruby runtimes 2.3 and 2.4 for the AWS SDK For Ruby

Starting November 22, 2023, AWS SDK for Ruby version 3 will no longer support these end of life (EOL) Ruby runtime versions:

Since these versions are end-of-life, we have seen support drop within the Ruby community, including Bundler, Docker, and some of our SDK dependencies. To make sure we’re providing up-to-date and secure libraries, we will also be dropping these runtime versions. To ensure your applications and services remain secure, we encourage you to upgrade to Ruby 2.5 or later.

After November 22, 2023, new versions of AWS SDK for Ruby gems will not be automatically downloaded by bundler when using Ruby 2.3 or Ruby 2.4. The CHANGELOG.md provided in each service gem will specify the exact version where support for these runtime versions have been dropped.

Please see the Ruby maintenance branches webpage for a complete list of Ruby versions and their maintenance status. For more information regarding maintenance and deprecations for AWS SDK For Ruby, please see the AWS SDKs and Tools Maintenance Policy. If you encounter any issues or have questions, please create an issue or discussion on the aws-sdk-ruby GitHub repository.
