AWS Partner Showcase at GDC

At GDC 2024, AWS thought leaders, game developers, and 12 technology partners hosted a partner showcase where they discussed best-in-breed tech used to build, innovate, and maximize growth of today’s games. Three panels covered Generative AI, Cloud Game Development, and Game Backends.

In the first panel, Game Backends to Accelerate Development, AWS Partners AccelByte, Pragma, and Heroic Labs discussed industry trends, extensibility, launch readiness, and the pros and cons of managed versus custom backend solutions.

In the second panel, Accelerate Game Development, Jose Villeta, Director of Engineering at Warner Bros Games, Alex Carberry, Sr. Engineering Manager for Epic Games, Nicolas Tittley, CTO/Co-Founder at Sprocket Games, and Brent Lamb, Technical Producer at Cryptic Studios, discussed the benefits of leveraging the AWS cloud to enhance and accelerate the performance of Perforce Helix Core (version control), Team City (build pipelines), and Incredibuild (build acceleration).

In the third panel, Practical AI for Game Development, AWS Partners Scenario, Nvidia, Modulate, and Endava discussed the different ways AI can be used across game development such as content creation, moderation, and interactive use within games and immersive experiences, as well as practical ways to get started.
