How A New Jersey Car Mechanic Launched His Own Auto Repair App on AWS

Short for Complete Auto Reports, CAR is the brainchild of founder and CEO Ricardo Da Cruz. After taking over his father’s auto business in 2008, Da Cruz realized that the old school approach to auto repair needed to be streamlined and computerized for efficiency and sustainability. Although some doubted that someone without a software degree could create a software company, Da Cruz proved them wrong by leveraging AWS’s cloud-based business applications to launch CAR, an auto shop solution designed to help automotive repair facilities manage their business processes. With CAR, auto professionals can add pictures and videos to estimates and inspections so that customers can clearly see documentation of required work and recommended solutions. And because it’s cloud-based, CAR can be customized to meet the needs of individual businesses. According to Da Cruz, whatever the leading innovation ultimately is, it will surely be “a system designed very similarly to how CAR is, because it’s a natural flow of progression.” With services like a customer app and complete mobile functionality, it’s clear that CAR is driving the future of the auto industry.
