Episode two of AWS Power Hour: Cloud Practitioner is on deck!
Have you had the chance to stream our latest Twitch series, AWS Power Hour: Cloud Practitioner? You can watch this week’s episodes on demand at your convenience or before you join us for next week’s episode.
We offer two live, 60-minute shows each week—Mondays at 7:30 a.m. PT and Thursdays at 4:30 p.m. PT. As a reminder, the content covered in each version is roughly the same but presented by a different set of hosts. Watch one or both—it’s your choice!
Recap of episode one
In episode one, we covered fundamental topics like the six benefits of cloud computing. If you could use a refresh on—or even an introduction to—topics like availability zones, object versus block storage, and Amazon S3, this episode is full of information for you.
AWS Power Hour: Q&A, which livestreams 30 minutes before each show, also set the stage for those preparing to take an AWS Certification exam. Andre Zoutte, AWS Certification technical architect, joined the Q&A to engage with learners and share his expert knowledge.
What to expect in episode two
Next week, our hosts will build on what you’ve learned so far. They’ll focus on how to create an Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) instance, including the naming structure of instance types, how to choose the right instances for a workload, and how to add block storage.
How to prepare and stay engaged

As a reminder, this was your homework for week one:
- Using AWS documentation, find the closest AWS region to your location.
- Draw the region with two or three availability zones.
- Post the drawing on Twitter or LinkedIn using #AWSPowerHourHW and tag your host (Jonathan or Blaine).
