Registration is open for the 4K 4Charity virtual run in Portland, Oregon

4K 4Charity Virtual Run PDX - July thru August 2020

Annual event provides much-needed support for local nonprofit organizations focused on increased diversity and inclusion

This year may have us at a physical distance, but it is also connecting us in ways we could have never imagined. It has shown that we are resilient and innovative and able to accomplish amazing things when we come together. It is this spirit of community that unites 4K 4Charity supporters to become agents for change, creating a more equitable future for everyone.

Registration is now open for the 4K 4Charity Fun Run in Portland, Oregon at 4k4charity.com/pdx. This annual event brings together tech and business communities for a fun and healthy activity to raise awareness and funds for local nonprofit organizations. The virtual running and walking event begins on July 16. Registrations and donations will be accepted through August 31.

The 4K 4Charity Virtual Run allows supporters to participate safely from any location. To get going, select a 4K (2.49-mile) or 8K (4.97-mile) distance, print out a race bib, and complete by August 31 at your own pace, whether that’s on one day or across several days.

Participants are encouraged to share their unique 4K 4Charity journey on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn or Twitter, with social tag @4K4Charity or @4K4CharityFunRun. Registrants will receive a finisher’s packet with t-shirt, medal, and sticker at the conclusion of the event period.

This year’s event will again support Kairos PDX and Portland Opportunities Industrialization Center’s Rosemary Anderson High School (RAHS), two nonprofit organizations that provide year-round, high-quality education, opportunities, and wrap-around services for Portland’s underserved youth and communities of color.

Kairos PDX focuses on delivering excellent, equitable education to systematically marginalized children, their families, and their communities. Its approach includes a K-5 learning academy, an early learning network, family connections program, advocacy, and professional development.

Rosemary Anderson High School is a community-based alternative school focused on helping students find success. With five campuses across Portland serving approximately 700 students annually, RAHS provides open-door year round access to education to scholars who have encountered barriers in traditional school settings. Rosemary Anderson has a 90% graduation rate and offers career services into adulthood through the Portland Opportunities Industrialization Center.

Both organizations are vital to addressing prolific racial achievement and opportunity gaps in our communities, ensuring every student has access to opportunities to succeed.

Hosted by AWS Elemental, the 4K 4Charity Virtual Run in Portland is supported with generous sponsorships from New Relic, Prosper Portland and TechTownPDX, First Tech Federal Credit Union, and Urban Renaissance Group.
