Announcing the keynote speakers for the 2021 AWS Public Sector Summit Online

The AWS Public Sector Summit Online is happening April 15-16, 2021. Registration is open and no cost. Teresa Carlson, vice president of Amazon Web Services (AWS) worldwide public sector and industries, will host the keynote featuring inspiring leaders who are delivering on their missions with AWS.

Now, more than ever, organizations have to be agile, intuitive, and innovative. In the keynote address, Teresa will take a look at breakthroughs happening across the public sector globally and discuss how public sector organizations like yours can continue to push boundaries.

Stanford University

Learn about how Stanford University is leveraging wearable technology to detect pre-symptomatic COVID-19 cases in real time, from Dr. Michael Snyder, professor, chair of genetics, and director of the center of genomics and personalized medicine of Stanford University. Dr. Snyder will discuss the team’s ability to increase the scale of their diagnostics research with the cloud during the pandemic, and their plans to build a data lake with AWS that will combine wearable data with genomics data to provide a collaborative research platform as the first of its kind.

Defense Logistics Agency (DLA)

Adarryl Roberts, program executive officer of the DLA, will share learnings from the organization’s digital transformation journey, including how DLA was able to drive a rapid and successful migration ahead of schedule and now stands up multiple releases in the cloud per year. National Health Service (NHS) Digital

The NHS system maintains records of more than 53 million individuals in the UK. Sarah Wilkinson, chief executive officer of NHS Digital, will share how they’ve worked with AWS to build a reliable and stable environment to help organize this unique dataset, while keeping it protected and secure. She’ll also share how the organization was able to rapidly deliver new products and scale existing services as they experienced peak loads higher than ever before in response to the pandemic—and how they’ll maintain this momentum in the journey ahead.

Pearson

Hear about the latest trends in education from Rod Bristow, president of Pearson. Rod will share how the organization is leveraging the cloud to provide online learning services that fit the evolving needs of students globally. He’ll also discuss Pearson’s development of the first-ever Business and Technology Education Council (BTEC) Higher National Diploma in Cloud Computing in collaboration with AWS Educate, providing new avenues for individuals to develop critical digital skills as the workforce continues to change.

Girls Who Code

Dr. Tarika Barrett, incoming chief executive officer and current chief operating officer of Girls Who Code, will join Teresa and Maureen Lonergan, director of AWS Training and Certification, for a fireside chat focused on how equitable training and skills development can contribute to building an inclusive and diverse workforce.
