Having to debug a system with logs scattered in different places can make troubleshooting difficult, which is one of the reasons we recommend customers deliver AWS CloudTrail logs to a centralized Amazon S3 bucket. Although aggregating these logs is a big step forward, it still requires something to parse the logs and alert based on anomalies or high-risk API calls. Customers can integrate with solutions such as Datadog, which allows you to configure monitors and send critical change notifications to your team.

Heirloom automatically refactors mainframe applications’ code, data, job control definitions, user interfaces, and security rules to a cloud-native platform on AWS. Using an industry-standard TPC-C benchmark, we demonstrated the elasticity of Heirloom on AWS, delivering 1,018 transactions per second—equivalent to the processing capacity of a large mainframe. Heirloom Computing is an APN Standard Technology Partner.

VMware Cloud on AWS is now available in the AWS Europe (Frankfurt) Region. VMware, an APN Advanced Technology Partner, has been working with AWS to release new enterprise capabilities for VMware Cloud on AWS every 90 days. In addition to the continued global expansion, new capabilities are being introduced to increase enterprise readiness and make it easier for customers to start adopting. VMware Cloud on AWS is now GDPR-ready and we have introduced major compliance certifications.

A number of APN Consulting Partners have told us they would like to have access to a repository of solution blueprints that address common business patterns. To meet this need, AWS Service Catalog is now providing easy access to common and foundational AWS-based solutions and reference architectures in GitHub. There are currently five blueprints from AWS solutions architects on GitHub, and we plan to establish a formal process for APN Consulting Partners to submit reference architectures.

As part of the onboarding process when joining the AWS Service Delivery Program, APN Partners must go through a technical audit of their experience delivering AWS services to end customers. This audit is conducted by internal technical experts who validate the APN Partner’s knowledge and capabilities for a specific AWS service. To help APN Partners better understand this process, we are introducing Validation Checklists that provide visibility into the criteria we use during an organization’s technical validation.

With Linke, an APN Premier Consulting Partner with the AWS SAP Competency, enterprises can execute SAP-centric digital transformation strategies including SAP deployments and database migrations to SAP HANA. Linke executed 44 SAP migrations to AWS in 2017, and they currently manage more than 300 SAP instances on AWS with a team of engineers certified on both AWS and SAP. Linke helps enterprises leverage the best of AWS for SAP workloads so they can achieve new levels of agility and performance.

When carefully planned, managed, and executed, the rewards of moving Mainframe workloads to AWS are numerous. Besides the cost savings of the pay-as-you-go model, once your Mainframe application set has been fully deployed on AWS, you will have the freedom to integrate proven business logic with modern technologies for data analytics or mobile enablement. With that in mind, migrating Mainframe applications to the cloud seems more like a necessity than a luxury.

AWS Partner Cinegy has long been an advocate of IP-based video workflows and understands that maintaining visual quality whilst reducing bandwidth consumption is an ongoing challenge with the increasing data requirements of formats such as Ultra High Definition (UHD). In this post, Cinegy demonstrates how to deploy a fully-functional playout engine using Amazon EC2 resources and the Cinegy Amazon Machine Image (AMI) to deliver a UHD TV channel with graphics.

This is the third post in our series documenting a project to fix issues with the AWS GameDay architecture by using tenets of the AWS Well-Architected Framework. In Part 2, we remediated the critical findings found in our initial review and here we’ll cover remediating the deficiencies found in our Disaster Recovery plan, as well as other optimizations we’ve made due to recent announcements. We will also discuss how to address another crucial component in our application development—testing.

These partners are demonstrating the value of supporting AWS services that provide customers with solutions that are secure, easy-to-use, scalable, and cost-effective. We have high expectations Partners will continue to build and optimize products to run on AWS, and provide high-quality technical content, labs, and workshops to guide customer adoption.
