How Vix Technology Solaris Servers Migrated to AWS Using Stromasys Charon SSP Emulator

Explore a migration where Vix Technology partnered with AWS ProServe and Stromasys, an AWS Migration and Modernization Competency Partner, to successfully migrating over 100 applications, including both x86 and SUN SPARC Solaris mission-critical workloads within nine months before a data center contract renewal with near-zero customer impact. Vix’s key business drivers for migration were to move to a more secure, cost effective, and resilient environment.

Migrating Sun/SPARC Mission-Critical Applications from On-Premises to AWS Using SPARC Emulator

To enhance organizational, operational, and technical capabilities, many businesses are migrating their applications to AWS. This post walks through the lift and shift migration of a supply chain customer’s mission-critical legacy applications to emulated SPARCs on AWS utilizing Charon-SSP, the legacy SPARC emulator from Stromasys, and common Solaris-native tools. We’ll describe the customer’s context, Stromasys technical solution, and explore a successful lift and shift of a Solaris application, as-is, to AWS.

Instant Cutover for High-Availability Legacy Workload Migration Using AWS Outposts, CloudEndure, and Stromasys

Numerous legacy workloads, still hosted on premises, are mission-critical and hardly interruptible. Their migration to AWS must happen quasi-transparently for their users. This post details how the combination of AWS Outposts and CloudEndure can be used to solve for this issue. We demonstrate this by migrating a Solaris machine making use of the Charon SSP emulator by Stromasys, running on standard Amazon EC2 instances and using CloudEndure.
