Attendees network during IMAGINE: Nonprofit 2023.

On March 20, the Amazon Web Services (AWS) IMAGINE: Nonprofit conference returns to the Washington, DC metropolitan area for our eighth year of learning with nonprofit leaders from around the world. This annual event inspires nonprofits to rethink what’s possible for their mission, through the latest innovations in the cloud. Discover new ideas, build connections, and interact with cutting-edge technology onsite.

Whether it’s your first time attending, or your eighth, here are a few tips to make the most of IMAGINE: Nonprofit 2024.

Find inspiration from nonprofit leaders

Allyson Fryhoff, managing director of AWS global healthcare and nonprofits, will kick off the day with the keynote on how the nonprofit sector uses the cloud to improve the lives of their beneficiaries, patients, and more, leveraging data and emerging technology like generative artificial intelligence (AI).

Allyson will be joined by Bourhan Yassin, CEO of Rainforest Connection, Michael Hund, CEO of EB Research Partnership, and Chris Anderson, Curator of TED, who will share what the nonprofit leaders of today need to know and do to propel their missions forward. They will share how intentional adaption and evolution within an organization can lead to greater impact outside the organization. Discover how to embrace change as not only necessary, but something to celebrate.

From sparking generosity to delivering scaled solutions that protect our natural world and collaborating to accelerate treatments and cures, the purposeful use of data, AI, and machine learning (ML) is transforming the ways in which nonprofits navigate challenges and capitalize on opportunities in our increasingly connected world.

Hear from nonprofit leaders at the helm of innovative generative AI projects and what they’ve learned as they lean into this new technological era. Hear from customer speakers from Data Friendly Space and AARP.

Frugal architect: How to build cost effectively in the cloud

Nonprofits can build frugal architectures that aim to deliver cost-aware, sustainable, and maintainable solutions to power their work. Join this presentation to learn more about how to build cost effectively in the cloud, to benefit operations and drive progress. Learn how to make the right design decisions for your nonprofit’s priorities, evaluate trade-offs, and discover tips and techniques for migrating to and modernizing in the cloud. To close the program, Sasha Rubel, head of AI/ML public policy in  EMEA for AWS, will wrap up the day with an in-depth conversation around the thought-provoking questions about our roles and responsibilities in the human-centered design, development and deployment of AI systems, including generative AI. Leaders from Crisis Text Line and Allen Institute for Artificial Intelligence (AI2) will share their perspective on harnessing these powerful tools in addressing the mental health crisis and conducting high-impact AI research and engineering in service of the common good.
