Achieving cloud compliance and security with AWS GovCloud (US): Join us for AWS Compliance Week

From November 4-8, Amazon Web Services (AWS) will host its first annual “AWS Compliance Week: Achieving Cloud Compliance and Security in the AWS Cloud” to help customers navigate and accelerate their cloud adoption plans for regulated workloads and sensitive data. The five-part, week-long webinar series will highlight how AWS GovCloud (US) Regions are purpose-built to help customers realize cloud benefits when working with Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), defense data, export-controlled data, and criminal justice information (CJI).

Amazon EC2 Spot Instances now available in AWS GovCloud (US) Regions

Amazon EC2 Spot Instances are now available in Amazon Web Services (AWS) GovCloud (US) Regions. AWS GovCloud (US) is Amazon’s isolated cloud infrastructure and services designed to address specific regulatory and compliance requirements of US Government agencies, as well as contractors, educational institutions, and other US customers that run sensitive workloads in the cloud. With Amazon EC2 Spot Instances, AWS GovCloud (US) customers can take advantage of the largest pool of cost-effective compute capacity in the world, while realizing savings up to 90% compared to on-demand prices. Spot Instances provide acceleration, scale, and cost savings that are ideal for fault-tolerant, flexible, loosely coupled, and stateless workloads.

Harnessing the power of cloud: Startups deliver innovative services to public safety agencies faster

Startups are reinventing the way that information is delivered and analyzed to drive innovation in government organizations and agencies around the globe. Without the substantial upfront cost of infrastructure, these companies can focus on driving unique solutions tailored to first responders from public safety agencies with the scale and tools of the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud.

Expanded Cloud Computing Capabilities for Compliance-Driven and Regulated Organizations with AWS GovCloud (US)

Since announcing the opening of the second AWS GovCloud (US) Region last year, we continue to focus on driving innovation and access to new services and infrastructure. This year, we launched over 220 services and features into the AWS GovCloud (US) Regions. This includes some of our customers’ most requested AWS services such as Amazon S3 Glacier, AWS PrivateLink, AWS Transit Gateway, AWS Resource Access Manager (RAM), Amazon Route 53, and Amazon Workspaces. We’ve also made it easier for customers to centrally manage compliance, access, licenses, deployment, and billing for workloads in AWS GovCloud (US) Regions with the recent launches of AWS Organizations, AWS Service Catalog, and AWS License Manager.

14 New Languages and 405 New Language Pairs on Amazon Translate Available in the AWS GovCloud (US-West) Region

We announced the expansion of Amazon Translate in the AWS GovCloud (US-West) Region, Amazon’s isolated cloud region built for sensitive data and regulated workloads. This service allows our government customers and organizations in government-regulated industries to connect with constituents and customers in different languages.

BDP now supports securing, monitoring, and reporting on AWS GovCloud (US)

Enlighten IT Consulting, an AWS Managed Service Partner, is the prime integrator for the Department of Defense (DoD) Big Data Platform (BDP). BDP is a fully accredited government-owned platform used for storing, querying, and analyzing cyber data that runs at petabyte scale in AWS GovCloud (US). The BDP has been adopted by multiple defense and federal civilian agencies as the primary security information event management solution (SIEM) due to its ability to support petabyte-scale data ingest, processing, storage, and visualization without the burden of licensing cost or lock-in.

Announcing ATO on AWS

We announced the Authority to Operate (ATO) on AWS program, which provides resources to Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) who aspire to achieve a compliance authorization, such as FedRAMP, Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS), Payment Card Industry (PCI), Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS), and many other compliance programs.

Second AWS GovCloud (US) Region in the United States is Live

The new AWS GovCloud (US-East) Region is now available. The AWS GovCloud (US-East) Region joins GovCloud (US-West) as the second AWS GovCloud Region in the US, and the 19th AWS Region worldwide. The second AWS GovCloud (US) Region gives US government customers a consistent compliance framework across their IT environment including FedRAMP, DoD IL 5, Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS), and International Traffic and Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Growth and Adoption of AWS GovCloud (US) for Mission-Critical Workloads

AWS GovCloud (US) gives AWS customers a place to host sensitive data and regulated workloads in the AWS Cloud. It is an isolated AWS Region, subject to FedRAMP High and Moderate baselines, and it allows customers to host sensitive Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and all types of regulated workloads. AWS GovCloud (US) Region launched in 2011, and since then we have been focused on driving innovation and access to new services in the AWS GovCloud (US) Region for our public sector customers.
