The transformative power of artificial intelligence (AI) is something Amazon and Deloitte know well. With over 40 years combined experience in the AI space, these leading organizations are innovating and using AI technologies to change how businesses work, grow, and thrive.
This includes building off the strong foundation set by Amazon’s use of AI-powered solutions to transform how customers get personalized experiences and product recommendations. Combining that with Deloitte’s demonstrated track record of serving 90% of the top Fortune Global 500 companies while earning $2.2 billion in AI revenue in the last fiscal year alone (a 39% increase year-over-year) can produce powerful outcomes.
Together, Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Deloitte empower digital transformation for organizations ready to embrace the latest advancements in AI technology, including the rapidly expanding field of generative AI—a type of AI that can create new content and ideas, including conversations, stories, images, videos, and music. The journey continues with Amazon Bedrock, the easiest way to build and scale with foundation models (FMs).
Generative AI has quickly become a disruptor across industries. It’s helping businesses with content generation, data classification, image generation, data extraction, summarization, Q&A, and more. It will soon touch every line of business in an organization if it hasn’t already.
Savvy business leaders rely on AI partners that offer trusted guidance, deep technical knowledge, and an evolving understanding of generative AI applications to understand where and how to leverage the technology next.
In this post, we will talk about how Deloitte, an AWS Premier Tier Services Partner, can help customers benefit from AWS’s generative AI offerings. We’ll also stress the importance of a modern data platform and AI that’s trustworthy, both of which enables customers to get maximum value out of generative AI.
Data is (Still) the Key
Deloitte and AWS have a unique understanding of the data that fuels AI, the mechanics that drive it, and the technology partnerships that empower further innovation. This experience is critical to expanding generative AI uses cases, transforming business dynamics, and offering the trustworthy guidance and innovation enterprises need to navigate the challenges and maximize the value of the technology.
Figure 1 – Generative AI capabilities.
Data fuels the algorithms and models that generative AI depends on. With access to vast amounts of data, businesses can train their AI systems to create content, designs, and even entire virtual worlds that cater to customers’ preferences. This data-driven approach improves the accuracy and quality of generated outputs and allows businesses to continuously refine their AI models for better performance.
With high-quality data, generative AI models can learn patterns, make connections, and generate unique outputs, but generative AI tools are only as good as the quality of their data. Any gaps or biases in data—such as in representation or sampling—impact model outputs.
Without high-quality data, the potential for reliable, high-value results diminishes, highlighting the importance of sourcing and curating datasets that capture the essence of domain expertise and human creativity. The following diagram lays the groundwork for a typical view of data sources, application types, and the resulting metrics to track on the AWS ecosystem.

Mechanics of Generative AI: Unveiling the Magic
Because generative AI applications mimic human-like patterns and behaviors in data, analyzing the high-quality data they produce is akin to looking in a mirror. This ability makes generative AI simultaneously fascinating and powerful in fields like art, music, and writing—where the resulting output so closely resembles human creation.
The following diagram reveals more of the underpinnings that make this kind of achievement possible.

An Alliance That’s Solid as a Rock
Now that we’ve established a baseline understanding of how generative AI operates, let’s explore how the Deloitte and AWS alliance shapes what’s possible with AI.
In early 2023, AWS announced Amazon Bedrock, a fully managed service that makes Foundation Models (FMs) from Amazon and leading AI startups available through an application programming interface (API).
Coinciding with that announcement, Deloitte launched its customer-centric generative AI practice focused on helping clients harness the potential of generative AI Foundation Models to boost productivity and expedite business innovation.
By leveraging the power of Amazon Bedrock to develop innovative AI solutions that can revolutionize all industries, Deloitte’s generative AI practice now takes its next leap: combining Deloitte’s industry experience with Amazon Bedrock’s cutting-edge AI technology to drive digital transformation and help clients stay ahead in an increasingly competitive market.
In fact, Deloitte’s deep business and technical knowledge, along with its ability to rapidly scale, have been key components for helping with the launch of multiple AWS services including Amazon Bedrock through active participation in the beta program.
With AWS’s robust cloud infrastructure and Deloitte’s understanding of industry challenges and opportunities, the two organizations are further paving the way for groundbreaking new products that can support client strategic priorities and resolve operational challenges anytime, anywhere.
Use Cases and Deloitte Solutions: Bridging Innovation and Reality
Generative AI enhances productivity and transforms industries. Deloitte’s solutions leverage cutting-edge algorithms and deep learning techniques to deliver customized and scalable AI use cases that meet the unique needs of their clients.
The following diagram shows common generative AI use cases across multiple industries.

Transforming Business Dynamics
Deloitte has seen generative AI improve clients’ businesses in three key areas:
- Transforming operations: Generative AI revolutionizes operational landscapes as varied as customer care, IT troubleshooting, process quality management, and investor relations reporting. It allows humans to focus on high value-added activities that promote customer satisfaction, brand recognition, and market growth.
- Accelerating growth: Innovation surges with generative AI-enabled growth acceleration. Businesses rapidly conjure up captivating products and services, igniting a growth cycle. By customizing customer interactions, generative AI can drastically transform customer engagement, thereby increasing customer satisfaction, brand loyalty, and brand value. This dynamic combination of innovation and customer engagement solidifies the role of generative AI as a robust driver of business growth and competitive differentiation.
- Market expansion: Generative AI can uncover unrealized opportunities, expanding the market by revealing new business domains and spawning unique solutions. Organizations attract emerging markets by entering uncharted markets and sectors, fostering expansion and resiliency in dynamic business settings.
Deloitte’s Thought Leadership and Trustworthy AI Platform
With the advent of novel technologies comes inherent risks, and in the realm of AI the task of identifying and handling these risks can be especially complex.
Whether it’s acknowledging how an AI model’s deployment context impacts ethical use or requires fair-use training to avoid IP infringement, these risks underscore the need for prudent AI governance to responsibly adopt current and future generative AI models and proactively foster its trustworthy use.
To help navigate AI’s complex terrain, Deloitte’s Trustworthy AI framework defines several principles, foundational capabilities, and specific capabilities that businesses can use as guidance when assessing current or future AI implementations. This includes methods to establish AI governance and regulatory compliance, cybersecurity parameters, and other leading practices that help thoroughly address the risks and intricacies of AI in this rapidly changing industry landscape.

AI presents both potential and challenges, necessitating risk management. In response, Deloitte’s Trustworthy AI platform acknowledges AI’s impact on customer interactions, brand reputation, compliance, and cybersecurity.
Likewise, because generative AI presents additional, more nuanced risks like context-dependent outputs, technical vulnerabilities, and “hallucinations” (a term for what happens when generative AI outputs a confident response to a request that doesn’t appear to be justified by its training data), even more vigilant and stringent monitoring is recommended. Privacy, intellectual property, and adversarial behavior require thorough review mechanisms as well.
