AWS Services Support the Justice and Public Safety Community’s CJIS Compliance

Compliance with the Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy is an ongoing task that includes data center infrastructure development and maintenance, creation of new cloud products and features, and performance of background checks on covered employees. In order to serve the Justice and Public Safety community’s most sensitive CJIS workloads in the cloud, AWS offers a wide range of services in the AWS GovCloud (US) Region.

AWS services support customer CJIS compliance by addressing the CJIS Security Policy Areas. AWS infrastructure and services have been reviewed by state and federal law enforcement agencies, which confirm AWS’s capability to support customer CJIS workloads. As part of our commitment to CJIS compliance, AWS enters into CJIS agreements with state CJIS Systems Agencies, or their functional equivalents (CSAs), and provides training and background checks of covered employees supporting customer CJIS workloads. AWS recently concluded a CJIS audit with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and supported a visit to AWS GovCloud (US) by the FBI CJIS Division.
