Taiwan universities announce new cloud computing education program with AWS Educate

Excellent Long-Established (ELECT) University Consortium of Taiwan and Amazon Web Services (AWS), through AWS Educate, launched a new cloud computing degree program to prepare students for cloud-enabled jobs. The new four-year program will help to prepare the next generation of cloud professionals with specific skills needed for in-demand entry-level cloud careers in Taiwan.

How two schools in Canada and Turkey competed through AWS DeepRacer to skill up on machine learning

Students from two secondary schools on opposite sides of the world used AWS DeepRacer to learn about machine learning (ML). Using AWS DeepRacer, students from a school in Vancouver, Canada and Instanbul, Turkey learned how to design, train, and deploy a model car using ML. These students competed on virtual racetracks against each other—all within the AWS Management Console.

Year one insights from the Louisiana workforce development collaboration with AWS Educate

One year ago, the state of Louisiana announced a collaboration with AWS to launch statewide an AWS Educate cloud associate degree program. Built in collaboration with the Office of the Governor John Bel Edwards, Greater New Orleans, Inc., and the Louisiana Community and Technical College System (LCTCS), the program provides cloud computing opportunities across the 12 LCTCS colleges. After the first year of the program, LCTCS provided an update on how the program continues to grow and scale.

CEU universities in Spain launches cloud computing education program with AWS Educate

In September 2020, CEU University will launch the Cloud Computing Program in collaboration with AWS Educate at three Spanish universities: Universidad CEU San Pablo (Madrid), Universidad CEU Cardenal Herrera (Valencia), and Universidad Abat Oliba CEU (Barcelona). This is the first program of its kind in Spain. The news was announced during a virtual event on May 14.

Advice and resources for transitioning to remote learning, from the AWS Educate community

In March, AWS Educate launched a global survey to understand the biggest issues facing educators during COVID-19 while also seeking educators experienced in remote learning to volunteer in a series of online workshops and webinars. As a result of the survey and through the support of AWS Educate educators, AWS Educate launched two efforts in April to provide remote learning resources: an educator-to-educator (K20) webinar series on remote instruction and a workshops from home series for educators and students that provided access to online classes for cloud skills, computer science, robotics, and machine learning. Throughout the remote learning resource series, educators had tips for teachers transitioning to remote education.

Resources for military spouses on Military Spouse Appreciation Day

On Military Spouse Appreciation Day, we want to acknowledge the significant contributions, support, and sacrifices of military spouses worldwide. For military spouses, finding employment can be a challenge. To help prepare military spouses for roles in technology, Amazon offers no cost training for US military spouses, transitioning military, and veterans through its AWS Educate initiative.

AWS Educate announces its inaugural Student Ambassador cohort

Today, AWS Educate announced the first cohort for the AWS Educate Student Ambassador Program. The AWS Educate Student Ambassador Program provides student leaders from around the world the opportunity to gain real-life experience while helping their peers gain valuable AWS technical skills to develop successful cloud careers. Through a competitive process that showcased member academic and extracurricular accomplishments, the selected inaugural cohort contains 326 members from over 50 countries and more than 250 higher education institutions.

SENA Colombia AWS Educate graduation

Empowering the next generation of cloud talent in Colombia with SENA and AWS Educate

At the end of 2019, el Servicio Nacional del Aprendiza (SENA) in Colombia graduated 160 students after completing AWS Educate Cloud Career Pathways to build their IT and cloud technology skills. This was the first group of students to graduate after Colombia’s President Iván Duque Márquez and Jeff Kratz, General Manager AWS Public Sector Latin America, Caribbean and Canada, announced a strategic partnership with SENA to train 10,000 students throughout Colombia in IT and cloud technology.

AWS Educate mobilizes global educator network to support remote learning with no cost resources

To help the global education community during a period of increased remote learning, AWS Educate is launching an “Educator Mobilization” initiative to provide resources that support educators as they migrate to virtual instruction. Launching the week of April 6th, resources will include webinars hosted by educators who are members of AWS Educate with expertise teaching in online classrooms, as well as virtual office hours.
