The AWS Competency Program admitted 26 new APN Partners in April—spanning workload, solution, and industry designations. The AWS Competency Program helps customers identify and choose top APN Partners that have demonstrated technical proficiency and proven customer success in specialized solution areas. This validation gives customers complete confidence in choosing APN Partner solutions from the tens of thousands in the AWS Partner Network.

At the AWS London Summit, we announced the new AWS Machine Learning Competency Program for APN Consulting Partners. Launch Partners in this program have deep expertise and proven customer success in Machine Learning on AWS, and we are excited to showcase some of their stories. The AWS Competency Program helps customers identify and choose the top APN Partner for their AWS projects and workloads.

We are excited to announce the Horizon 7 virtual desktop and application platform is now supported on VMware Cloud on AWS. Architecturally, the Horizon 7 platform is the same on-premises as it is on VMware Cloud on AWS, so the deployment and management experience stays consistent across environments. Customers no longer have to purchase new hardware to launch or scale Horizon 7, and instead have the option of pay-as-you-go by leveraging VMware Cloud on AWS hourly billing.

We are often asked how to integrate software with Amazon SageMaker and use the service’s built-in machine learning algorithms. In this post, we discuss how to use the training capabilities of Amazon SageMaker to leverage its built-in algorithms. The types of applications that can integrate with Amazon SageMaker are data science platforms, business intelligence tools, or any application that needs to use machine learning behind the scenes.

Edmunds began moving data to the AWS cloud shortly before deciding to use software from Tableau for data visualization and analysis. The combination of AWS and Tableau is helping Edmunds continue to thrive, and even grow, while making smart decisions for the business that serve its customers and partners well. Tableau is an APN Advanced Technology Partner with AWS Competencies in both Big Data and Mobile.

A next-generation Global Transit Hub is part of a second generation of networking technology, combining a traditional Global Transit Hub with additional security, scale, and operational functionalities. Aviatrix is an APN Advanced Technology Partner and one of the first APN Partners to earn the AWS Networking Competency. Now, you can use the Aviatrix Global Transit Hub on AWS Quick Start to connect multiple geographically-dispersed VPCs and remote networks faster than ever.

We are excited to share three new how-to guides featuring best practices for creating and uploading architecture diagrams, case studies and customer references, and microsites. Each guide provides clear benefits to Partners for building these assets and explains why the APN asks for them in applications for AWS Service Delivery, AWS Competency, and AWS Managed Service Provider (MSP) Programs. The how-to guides also detail how the APN uses Partner-submitted documentation and gives a few examples approved by the APN.

This new AWS Quick Start automatically deploys TIBCO BusinessWorks Container Edition into a highly available architecture on AWS, using Amazon ECS host instances and an Amazon ECR repository for plug-ins. The deployment is automated by AWS CloudFormation templates and takes about 25 minutes. The Quick Start was built by TIBCO Software in collaboration with AWS solutions architects. TIBCO is an APN Advanced Technology Partner with the AWS Big Data Competency.

Siemens is Europe’s largest industrial manufacturing company and recently leveraged its MindSphere IoT platform to connect production machines at a factory in Monterrey, Mexico, to the AWS cloud in less than eight weeks, which will help it to double efficiency. AWS announced at Hannover Messe 2018 that Siemens PLM, a business unit of the Siemens Digital Factory Division, is a pre-qualified launch partner in the AWS Industrial Software Competency Program, which launches later in 2018.

The new AWS Certified Security – Specialty exam allows experienced cloud security professionals to demonstrate and validate their knowledge of how to secure the AWS platform. The security exam covers incident response, logging and monitoring, infrastructure security, identity and access management, and data protection. It is open to anyone who currently holds an Associate or Cloud Practitioner certification. We also have trainings and other resources to help you prepare for the exam.
