Announcing the AWS Public Sector Summit Online and a special Fix This podcast series

I am happy to share that the first AWS Public Sector Summit Online will happen virtually on Tuesday, June 30, 2020. Registration is now open, and we are building an experience that you will be able to access right from your own home. Leading up to the Summit, I am also excited to announce the release of a new, five-part series of the Fix This podcast. I will be one of the guest hosts, and I look forward to speaking with government, education, and healthcare customers about how they are solving some of the world’s most pressing challenges with technology.

AWS Educate announces its inaugural Student Ambassador cohort

Today, AWS Educate announced the first cohort for the AWS Educate Student Ambassador Program. The AWS Educate Student Ambassador Program provides student leaders from around the world the opportunity to gain real-life experience while helping their peers gain valuable AWS technical skills to develop successful cloud careers. Through a competitive process that showcased member academic and extracurricular accomplishments, the selected inaugural cohort contains 326 members from over 50 countries and more than 250 higher education institutions.

EHDEN Academy

EHDEN Academy launches no-cost online school for global health studies

The EHDEN Academy is launching a no-cost online e-learning platform to train researchers on the mapping of patient data in the OMOP Common Data Model and the use of Observational Health Data Sciences and Informatics (OHDSI) tools to perform health analysis. The EHDEN Academy is the global educational resource for those working with data to generate real-world evidence and outcomes research. The EHDEN Academy is open to the public to better support the need for technical expertise in Europe and abroad.

Amazon CodeGuru

Lower AWS expenses with Amazon CodeGuru runtime optimizations

Amazon Web Services (AWS) launched Amazon CodeGuru (Preview), a machine learning service for automated code reviews and application performance recommendations, at AWS re:Invent 2019. The new service helps development teams find code defects or performance issues and gives recommendations to improve code quality, saving time and expense.

AWS launches machine learning enabled search capabilities for COVID-19 dataset

As the world grapples with COVID-19, researchers and scientists are united in an effort to understand the disease and find ways to detect and treat infections as quickly as possible. Today, Amazon Web Services (AWS) launched CORD-19 Search, a new search website powered by machine learning that can help researchers quickly and easily search tens of thousands of research papers and documents using natural language questions.

AWS Educate mobilizes global educator network to support remote learning with no cost resources

To help the global education community during a period of increased remote learning, AWS Educate is launching an “Educator Mobilization” initiative to provide resources that support educators as they migrate to virtual instruction. Launching the week of April 6th, resources will include webinars hosted by educators who are members of AWS Educate with expertise teaching in online classrooms, as well as virtual office hours.

US Census 2020 mailer

Be counted: April 1 is Census Day

April 1 is Census Day 2020: the day everyone in the United States is counted. Household respondents to the U.S. Census are asked to count every individual living in their household as of Census Day. From representation in Congress to funding for local schools, roads, and emergency services, important decisions are made by the government based on census data, impacting those services for the next decade.

Customers can now connect AWS Outposts to AWS GovCloud (US) Regions

Government customers and commercial organizations in government-regulated industries can now connect their AWS Outposts to the AWS GovCloud (US) Regions. With this launch, users in AWS GovCloud (US) Regions can get a consistent AWS experience by accessing the same AWS infrastructure, services, APIs, and tools across on premises and the cloud.
