The recently launched game teaches participants cloud basics through a brief self-paced learning experience presented as a virtual showcase.

The AWS Public Sector Summit Online is happening October 20, 2020—registration is now open and at no cost. Max Peterson, vice president of international sales of worldwide public sector at AWS, is hosting the opening keynote, featuring inspiring stories from leaders who are serving their missions with AWS. To help our public sector customers in Sweden accelerate their journey to the cloud, we are launching the AWS ClearStart program. AWS ClearStart helps organizations meet security and regulatory needs through a set of guides, trainings, technology tools, and cloud computing experts to simplify the process of complying with Swedish and EU regulations, including the Public Access to Information and Secrecy Act (OSL) and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), as well as with international information security standards, such as ISO/IEC27001.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, an annual campaign to increase awareness of the disease. This year, AWS and its employees are participating in the Tech Day of Pink on October 8, joining the Estée Lauder Companies’ (ELC) annual campaign to raise awareness and donations for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Several nonprofits devoted to the fight against breast cancer use the AWS Cloud to help meet their missions, including Breastcancer.org and Pittsburgh Health Data Alliance (PHDA). Learn more.

Government agencies and public sector organizations need rapidly deployable and dependable security solutions to support their missions. In response to this need, AWS launched the Security Solutions for Government Workloads initiative under the Authority to Operate (ATO) on AWS Program. This initiative works with AWS Public Sector Partners, members of the AWS Partner Network (APN), to develop security solutions designed to meet the unique security and compliance requirements of public sector workloads.

With the global shift to remote learning during this year’s back-to-school season, the need for flexible and comprehensive learning tools is more important than ever. To help, AWS Educate introduced new features including the Cloud Builder Badge for students and no-cost learning content and professional development for educators.

University students in the United Kingdom and Ireland can now register for the AWS Educate University Challenge for a chance to win prizes for their university while building skills in the cloud. In the inter-university competition, students from the UK and Ireland earn points for their university by completing AWS Educate Cloud Career Pathways and Specialty Badges.
