This year marks the 10th anniversary of the AWS Partner Network (APN). To celebrate a decade of partner-driven innovation and evolution, we launched “10 Years of Success”—a series of partner transformation stories highlighting some AWS Partners who have grown with us since 2012. To wrap up the series, we’re featuring Alert Logic, an AWS Competency Partner that provides managed detection and response (MDR) solutions cloud applications.

Much of the hardware used on the factory floor today has been in place for many years, and managing these devices from the internet often requires replacement of the hardware. Utilizing AWS IoT Greengrass and AWS Lambda functions allow legacy hardware to be maintained, while providing full internet connectivity and management. Inference is an important stage of machine learning pipelines that deliver insights to end users from trained neural network models. These models are deployed to perform predictive tasks like image classification, object detection, and semantic segmentation. However, constraints can make implementing inference at scale on edge devices such as IoT controllers and gateways challenging. Connected devices require a complex combination of hardware, operating systems, and software to connect to the cloud. To simplify this development for customers, AWS works with Independent Hardware Vendors (IHV) that can integrate AWS IoT services. In this post, we explore three qualified AWS IoT Edge Software offerings, and dive deep on how these IHVs solve business use cases while enabling customers to use these software frameworks to connect to AWS IoT services.

The annual Global Partner Summit was held November 26-30 at AWS re:Invent 2018, and we are excited to introduce key initiatives and program launches. Announcements include APN Tier changes and updates to the overall APN benefits structure, as well as new programs like the AWS Well-Architected Partner Program, AWS IoT Service Delivery designations, the AWS Container Competency, and AWS Device Qualification Program.

The new AWS Device Qualification Program makes it easier for APN Partners to qualify their devices on AWS IoT Greengrass, Amazon FreeRTOS, AWS IoT Core, and/or Amazon Kinesis Video Streams so that customers can find and purchase hardware they can trust for their IoT projects. With AWS IoT along with our APN Partners and their qualified hardware, customers will have the intelligence needed to build new services and business models, improve products and services, and strengthen the customer experiences.
