AWS re/Start is a no-cost, cohort-based, workforce development training program that first launched in the MENA region in June 2021. The program helps individuals build cloud computing skills and connects participants with employment opportunities with local employers. Over one year on from the graduation of the first AWS re/Start cohorts, AWS re/Start congratulates the many program participants, across nine countries in the region, that have launched their careers in the cloud.

The United Arab Emirates Space Agency and AWS have signed a Statement of Strategic Intent and Cooperation that is designed to support the creation of a vibrant, sustainable, competitive, and innovative space sector in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). King Hamad University Hospital (KHUH) and Bahrain Oncology Center is a 600-bed-hospital in Bahrain. Over the years, KHUH faced constraints with exponential growth of their on-premise storage needs, particularly with the medical images stored by their picture archiving and communication system (PACS). KHUH turned to AWS to develop a cost- and time-effective long-term storage solution, without making changes to their existing PACS, that reduced storage costs by 40%.

On March 31, the AWS Summit Brussels returned to the Egg in Brussels, Belgium, where Max Peterson, vice president of AWS worldwide public sector, and Isabella Groeger-Cechowicz, vice president of AWS worldwide public sector of EMEA sales, took the stage for the event’s keynote. On September 15, Amazon Web Services (AWS) held its third annual AWS Summit in Bahrain – the first summit since the new Middle East AWS region launched in August. More than 1600 executives and technologists attended to connect, collaborate, and learn about AWS in more than 20 breakout sessions on topics ranging from machine learning, to databases, to workforce development.
