To meet evolving learner needs, McGraw Hill recently launched the SHARPEN app—a mobile study app that mimics the types of social media content feeds familiar to young learners to foster educational success. Developed in collaboration with the AWS Growth Advisory Team, this dynamic learning experience uses AWS.
NHS Digital launches NHS login with AWS
NHS Digital launched NHS login, a serverless identity platform to facilitate access to a range of health and care apps for residents in England, with AWS, amongst other suppliers. Using the AWS Cloud, NHS Digital achieves scale, high availability, and security for citizens accessing these services, and helps users access NHS services quicker and more simply. NHS login is one of a number of services NHS Digital are hosting on the cloud as part of the UK government’s ‘Cloud First’ policy.
Cleerly uses AI-driven heart imaging technology to help save lives with AWS
Cleerly is a digital health company innovating a new standard for coronary artery disease by going beyond the traditional methods of diagnosing heart disease. Using artificial intelligence and the AWS Cloud, Cleerly turns non-invasive, comprehensive quantification and characterization of atherosclerosis (plaque) building in arteries into actionable insights for clinicians before major heart attack symptoms emerge.
Using digital games to teach civics
iCivics is the education nonprofit that US Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor founded in 2009 to transform civic education and rebuild civic strength through digital games and lesson plans. It is the country’s largest provider of civic education content and is currently used by more than 120,500 educators and 7.6 million students annually. All of its games are free, nonpartisan, and available at www.icivics.org. Through their use of Amazon Aurora, Amazon ElastiCache, Amazon CloudFront, and AWS CodeDeploy—and AWS security automation tools including AWS Security Hub, Amazon Inspector, and Amazon GuardDuty—iCivics has been able to scale and increase student engagement.
Driving sustainability through youth engagement
Today, speakers at the 24th World Scout Jamboree (WSJ) will introduce nano, a new gamified app developed on the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud that encourages youth around the world to adopt daily sustainability practices to help improve our planet. The Scouts are also launching #ScoutsRecycle, a campaign that leverages the nano app for sustainability. Through nano, scouts will be able to measure the impact of their efforts by calculating the CO2e emissions avoided through #ScoutsRecycle.
