Announcing the AWS Containers Rapid Adoption Assistance initiative for public sector partners

Public sector organizations can benefit from containers as they can enable building mission critical applications with better fault tolerance and agility, migrating applications across different platforms and in modernizing legacy applications. To help partners build containerized applications on behalf of public sector organizations, AWS is launching the AWS Containers Rapid Adoption Assistance (CRAA) initiative.

Top announcements from the AWS Public Sector Partners leadership session at re:Invent 2021

During the 10th anniversary of re:Invent, I was thrilled to share announcements and achievements from AWS Partners and programs for the public sector around the world. Since its launch, AWS’s Public Sector Partner Program participation has increased by an average of 54% year over year, with partners providing solutions in mission areas across healthcare, space, energy, transportation, government, education, and nonprofit. In both the Global Partners Summit keynote at re:Invent 2021, as well as in my public sector leadership session, I highlighted the new and upcoming AWS Partner solutions and accomplishments.

Announcing the 10 finalists for the inaugural AWS Healthcare Accelerator program

We are excited to announce the selection of the 10 finalists and participants for the first ever AWS Healthcare Accelerator. These ten companies were selected from 427 applications from 31 countries around the world by a panel from AWS and KidsX. The first ever AWS Healthcare Accelerator cohort represents a diverse group of healthcare solutions backed by diverse leadership, with 90 percent of the cohort having diversity of leadership and 70 percent being female founded. These 10 finalists are working to solve many of the strategic imperatives of AWS healthcare customers.

Simplifying voter registration and building confidence with the cloud

National Voter Registration Day is a nonpartisan civic holiday in the US creating broad awareness of voter registration opportunities and celebrating democracy. The goal of National Voter Registration Day is to register one million new voters by 2022. To reach this goal, state and local governments and nonprofit civic organizations use digital platforms powered by AWS to modernize and simplify voter registration.

How Rockdale County improved operations and security with the cloud

After Rockdale County, Georgia was the victim of two cyber attacks, the jurisdiction turned to the cloud to strengthen the county’s security position. They worked with AWS Partner Tyler Technologies, Inc. to help with their migration, which not only enhanced data security and continuity of operations, but also reduced network downtime by 99 percent, while streamlining budgeting and reducing the IT staff’s burden.

The Institute of Human Virology Nigeria reduced costs by 64% by migrating hundreds of mailboxes to Amazon WorkMail

The Institute of Human Virology Nigeria (IHVN) uses email as their main communication method, with over 800 email accounts using up to 50GB of storage space each. IHVN used AWS to migrate their email to Amazon WorkMail to reduce the cost of each mailbox by 64 percent, allowing their IT team to easily manage the corporate email infrastructure and get enterprise grade security.

Analyze controlled unclassified data with SAS Viya EKS on AWS GovCloud (US)

SAS Viya is a highly available, cloud-native analytics platform. The latest version of SAS Viya on Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS) allows customers to receive all of Kubernetes’ advantages without the trouble of maintaining their own Kubernetes infrastructure. Plus, customers also inherit AWS compliance controls, which can accelerate the journey to achieving FedRAMP authority to operate (ATO) in AWS US Regions. In this post, we show the key components of the SAS Viya architecture along with its core features to help customers on their journey to the cloud.

Announcing the AWS Public Sector Startup Ramp

AWS announced the launch of AWS Public Sector Startup Ramp in India, a new program to help early stage public sector focused technology startups build solutions on AWS. AWS Startup Ramp is an acceleration program for startups that are building innovative solutions for public sector customers worldwide, including but not limited to customers in national and local government, space and defense, and healthcare.
